I've run out of ideas 😶
17 weeks pregnant

  • Plain water makes me feel sick
  • decaf tea gives me palpitations (i assume decaf coffee does too)
  • was drinking hibiscus tea - found out it's not recommended
  • was drinking twinings lemon and ginger tea and found out that has fennel in it, also not recommended
  • not a massive fan of squash
  • I drink orange juice / cranberry juice but can't have that all day

What do you drink?? I'd like herbal teas with no "not recommended" ingredients, any ideas?

  • also how paranoid are you about not recommended ingredients on prepackaged foods (like soup for example), things like nutmeg oil?
Thank you for any suggestions! 😊

Might sound silly but is it tap water that makes you feel sick? I could not stomach tap water early pregnancy but could stomach bottled water so lived on that! I'm 26 weeks now and back on tap water but it tasted disgusting to me for so long.

@Indreams21 yep tap water definitely makes me feel sick, you're right, I'll try bottled plain water! :)

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess @Potatomashed oh dear I've had a lot of orange juice
@Potatomashed no you're right I'm very anxious, I'm already doing therapy :) I'm a bit less anxious than at the start but it's probably quite a long road
Anyway, thank you for all your help and reassurance 🙂

Flavoured water (the lidl forest fruits one is lovely), vitamin water (also Lidl), I have a can of diet coke every day - it's a weakness of mine, I don't drink tea of coffee but have a hot chocolate before bed most nights.

I was constantly violently sick. Water was sipped, one sip at a time, but constantly, through a straw. It was all I could do.

DemelzaRobins · 22/11/2023 21:24

You could also try flavouring your water e.g. with a slice of lemon and/or some mint leaves. I found lemon water helpful when I was feeling more nauseous earlier on.

There's nothing 'oh dear' about it @Petris123 that's my point, it's perfectly safe.

Drinks and foods with very low alcohol content are considered non alcoholic

Peppermint tea
Lime and soda
Lipton Ice Tea
Alcohol free gin & tonic
I enjoyed a Capri sun when I was in the sicky phase.. less acidy than orange juice.

I also have one cup of nice coffee a day from my coffee machine (fully caffeinated).
