Hi!

Delighted to be pregnant, still early days at 5 weeks! I am taking boots own brand preg vits and generally looking after myself.

But is there anything else I should do or take? I have read that at my age I should be offered progesterone as standard, called early preg unit for info. Is it something that others have taken purely due to age?

We just want to make sure we are doing everything we can for pregnancy to progress.

Thank you!

Progesterone is only usually given if you have gone through IVF for the pregnancy or if you have a history of bleeding/miscarriage. EPU won't see you if the last 2 don't apply.

Someone else has posted a similar post, they are 40 so hopefully you will get some replies.

Vit wise I'm only taken folic acid and vit D as this is what the Clinic I was under recommended, at 12 weeks when they stop I will likely go into a multi vit. I've read some people get sick from the iron in the multivit in early pregnancy so maybe something to be aware of.

Good luck with your pregnancy x

Congrats!! I am also pregnant and have recently turned 40. Exciting 😊

I'm almost 39 and taking a pregnancy mulitvitamin and higher strength folic acid (unrelated to age and for first trimester only), and aspirin because my mum had pre-eclampsia with me. No mention of progesterone at any point.

I'm 39 and pregnant too, congratulations!

39 isn't seen as old nowadays so I don't think you'll have to do anything different unless you have any health issues unrelated to your age. I had my last at 37 and the midwife said you have to be in your 40s before they start to show any more concern

Congratulations! I was 43 when I fell pregnant (44 year old first time mum) and was prescribed aspirin after 12 weeks, on account of being older and first time, but that was the extent of anything extra. I took pregnacare vitamins and stayed active, tried to eat healthy. No mention of progesterone.
Good luck!

Rest and nap get early nights! And do pregnancy yoga /mindfulness. Go on gentle walks/do your usual exercises. Watch movies. Eat yummy nutritious food if you can handle it/not nauseous. Buy crop tops with no underwire in bigger size. Clear out clutter in your house. Don't use gloss paint xx

Perfect advice. Congratulations on your pregnancy OP. I'm 38, I'll be 39 when my baby is born. I'm trying to enjoy every moment Smile
