Fundal height small

Hi im 27 weeks + 3 days and i was told my fundal height is 24cm, and they said the baby is small and have referred me for a scan. Also CTG monitor and three times it came as ‘Dawes-Redman criteria not met because: No episodes of high variation, Long term variation in high episodes below acceptable level.

Im very worried what this all means, the baby movements have been fine, and general heartbeat has been fine as well, but the doctor im triage looked worried but said keep an eye on moments.

Anyone have the same situation now or when pregnant?

I’m not surprised you’re worried. When is your scan?

DuploTrain · 18/11/2023 16:25

When are you having your scan?

I kept being sent for scans because my bump measurement was small, but the scans showed the baby was on the bigger side (and he was 8lb when he was born).

Hope you find out what’s going on soon, I know it must be really worrying.

Waiting for a call from them but most likely Monday. But baby heartbeat and overall movements have been good

Probably monday or Tuesday. Just worried if my placenta is fine, been told to eat more and keep an eye on movements

I never measured more than 34 weeks, even at 41 weeks and a 9lb baby. Some women carry small. My most recent pregnancy (the only one where the ctg has been computerised to pass or fail) kept failing and I just had to stay on longer until midwife happy.

Some people just measure small. Good it's being checked out though.

Generally on the CTG three times now, and baby movements could clearly be heard, so much that they would need to readjust the pads on the tummy, thats what's confusing me, baby is active so hopefully nothing is wrong

Ahh mine always failed because ' too active', always made it hard to establish a baseline.

I understand why you’re worried but if you can try to take the fundal height measurements with a slight hint of salt. Everyone’s body is different and holds a baby differently. Last pregnancy I measured small every time and was sent for multiple growth scans where she was found to be on the bigger side. When she was born 3 weeks early she was 3.5kg (the doctor lifting her out said ‘well, this is NOT a small baby’). The scan will let give you a better picture of how things are really going.

They don't measure fundal height at my hospital (big, respected London one) because it's so unreliable. Try not to worry x

Limes2021 · 18/11/2023 19:34

They measured unexpectedly and thats where they started saying the baby is small!

My sister measured small, sent for a scan and was fine. 8lb 6oz boy born healthy!

Hiya @Limes2021 did anything come of this? I have had 2 CTGs and both are not passing for the same reasons as yours -
No episodes of high variation
Long term variation in high episodes below acceptable level
I am going back for my third on Sunday but the midwife’s and doctors keep saying that the heart rate is perfect at 142 and they can’t visually see a problem but the machine isn’t happy.
Thanks

The latest one has been fine, was done a few weeks after the inital ones.
