Psoriasis on c section scar

Hi All, I’m looking for some advice. I had a baby in March earlier this year. Since then my psoriasis has flared up loads and I also have psoriasis along my c section scar. The scar itself has healed but there’s psoriasis along the scar. Has anyone experienced this before and is there anything I can do to help it go away ? It’s never been there before and I’m so upset with it :(

I've had clients use calendula, chamomile, and comfrey with success.

I think it’s very common to get psoriasis as sites of trauma. Could you GP prescribe you some enstilar foam or even a plain topical steroid? Once daily for a few weeks then a few times per week. I wouldn’t spend a lot over the counter as unlikely to help very much.

Yes, I get psoriasis on cuts and healing scars. It's called Koenber response.

Do you have pre-existing psoriasis?

I use enstilar foam and before that daivobet ointment which may be cheaper (it is where I am), you may need them prescribed. I think they say don’t use on stretch marks etc but I’ve used them on stretch marks for years before I noticed that and ditto scar tissue, as I’ve had psoriasis a long time and cuts and grazes can easily turn psoriatic as psoriasis is basically overactive skin healing process, so things like colds and grazes can trigger it.

Thanks I’ve been using enstillar, but I’m worried it will thin the skin due to the long term use.
im finding it very hard to make go away.

I'm afraid no advice, but my psoriasis has done exactly the same as yours. It flared not long after the birth of DC2 (caesarean birth as well), and is being exceptionally stubborn 20 months later. Enstillar foam worked, but it was coming back after only a few weeks. Plus it's now all over my body, so an absolute PITA to apply. I have a dermatology appointment in January to hopefully get some phototherapy to sort it out.

TBH if enstillar hasn't got the job done, and it's affecting more of your body than before, I would push for a Derm appointment from your GP.

The thing with Enstilar is you have to wean yourself it really carefully and slowly, or psoriasis can really flare up again - often worse than it was in the first place.

I set reminders on my phone to apply it, counting down from daily (for, say, a fortnight) to every other day, and then to every third/fifth/seventh/tenth day etc, till I gradually stop. It means putting it on what looks like healing and healthy skin, which feels a bit strange; but it does mean you avoid steroid withdrawal reactions.

The post-pregnancy flare-ups are weird, aren't they? It's our immune systems cranking up again, a little too enthusiastically in the cases of women with auto-immune conditions like psoriasis. <Shakes fist at the sky>
