Baby movements - anterior placenta

Hi All,
I was wondering when you first felt your first baby with an anterior placenta?
I have had a previous loss so very anxious this time round and worried I will not feel very much because of the anterior placenta. I was hoping feeling the baby might help with my anxiety.
I am 18 weeks tomorrow.

21/22 weeks for me

I am 24w tomorrow with anterior placenta. I had my first movements at 20+5. But they were very subtle so I didn't even start feeling them every day for that first week. They don't feel overly strong even now, but my recent scans have show the baby is a right wiggler! I do have movements every day now but not as much as I expected.

21'weeks x

About 21 weeks also. With my first two I had a posterior placenta and felt movement a lot sooner! Hard not to compare but now almost 27 weeks and the movement is very obvious 😍

23 weeks

I still hadn’t felt anything definite by the 20 weeks scan.. then was feeling something around 22 weeks I think because got worried around 24 weeks after not feeling for a couple of days - went to triage and all was ok.

At 28 weeks there have been some strong kicks but it keeps changing. I can’t work out a precise pattern other than that she usually kicks when I lie on my side and after food.

I have anterior placenta, currently 40+3 but I felt the fluttering at 18 weeks! I had felt around 17 but wasn’t convinced that it was baby moving as first pregnancy not knowing what to expect and just considered it gas. By 18 weeks I knew it was definitely baby.
I had all these misconceptions and info from other people that I wouldn’t be feeling her until much later but that was completely wrong. Just take time to sit down and assess your body, speak to baby, stroke tummy etc.

It does depend on how active your baby is, my girl has always been using me as a punching bag so that’s probably why I felt her so early.

Hope you can feel your baby soon!

Very very slight movement around 20/21 weeks, much stronger by 28/29 weeks.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Most of you weren’t until after 20 weeks so I still have a few weeks to go x

About 23 weeks I think 😊

20+3 (which was a month ago, this is why I remember it 😂). I'm now 24w4d and have KIND OF a pattern - but not really, he can have quiet days and drive me mad (like two days ago). Don't worry!

NatiBarden97 · 17/11/2023 19:18

I think I started to feel flutters around 22 weeks and more noticeable movements around 24 weeks. I'm 30 weeks today and I still struggle some days with movements as they are so unpredictable and change so much. I was in the day unit yesterday and had a growth scan today but everything is fine.

I had a miscarriage 18 months ago so I have been very anxious this time around too so completely understand how you feel!

You just have to remember everyone is different and what is normal for one person is completely different to another ☺️
