ClearBlue weeks indicator accuracy?

I was just wondering if anyone has had a clearblue test stay at 2/3 weeks for a week and still had a good result? I should be 3 weeks plus as I'm 5+2 today (IVF pregnancy so sure on dates) but it's still showing 2/3 weeks. I did the test in the afternoon and had drunk quite a lot of water admittedly so the urine was quite diluted but I still would have expected to see 3+ as I got 3 + in my pregnancy last year when I was only 4+5. I've had 2 MMC prior to this so I'm quite anxious

@Justanotherdobby Hello, currently in a similar position. I tested today and was expecting a 3+ but only got 2-3 weeks.
I believe they aren't that accurate and from what i have been reading getting 3+ doesn't always come up until 6 weeks for some.

Fingers crossed for us both.

@tlw14 I think if I hadn't gotten a 3+ in other pregnancies I'd be less worried :( I will try again next week when I'm closer to 6 weeks and see what happens. Although I've read that at 6 weeks the HSG levels are too high to be read accurately, just to add further confusion to the situation!

They are accurate at detecting a specific HCG level in your urine. They are not accurate for dating a pregnancy.

Once the HCG in your urine crosses a threshold it will turn 3+ weeks. The CB website says 2753mIU/ml.

You could have a healthily progressing pregnancy and not meet that threshold at 5 or even 6 weeks. Or get the 2-3 weeks indicator and take another 11 days to meet the 3+ threshold (assuming HCG doubling 2-3 days and being at the low end of the 2-3 week threshold). And that's ignoring all the other variables like hydration.

I.e. they can be fun but they are not accurate for dating a pregnancy so try not to stress.

@bubballoo Thanks for this. From what I've seen these things can go either way, quite a few people on here have used the weeks indicator to gage impending MC so quite difficult not to take it seriously due to my history. I guess time will tell.

Just to update if anyone was following this: I tried again this morning with FMU and got a 3+. Feel a bit more reassured although I realise that doesn't necessarily mean anything. The Clearblue website advises the test is 93% accurate when done in the morning so I should have done that in the first place really. Hopefully yesterday's result was down to dilution rather than anything sinister. All the best to anyone else in the same position x

@Justanotherdobby I got my 3+ today too!! Pleased for you and keeping my fingers crossed that we both have successful pregnancies.

These tests are evil, suggest you stay away. I didn’t get 3+ until I was 7w 5 days by nhs dating, going by ovulation it would have been 6w 2d.

She was born at 37 weeks at 8lb 3 (nhs dates!!) I mean I grow them big but my point is they cause far more stress and I advise anyone who is worried to step away and have a private scan at 7 weeks instead!

Justanotherdobby · 10/11/2023 09:25

@tlw14 yay! :)

Hi, I had a ClearScore pregnant 1-2 weeks August 30th and today, 11 days later it’s still 1-2 weeks. I have no idea when I ovulated or even when my period would’ve been but I’m starting to stress now as it’s not progressing

Justanotherdobby · 10/09/2025 18:55

@Abigilber45 Hey, I understand how you're feeling. The trouble is these things are not an exact science. Are you able to book an early pregnancy scan? I found it quite reassuring when I was in a similar position x

Yes I’ve got an early scan on Tuesday morning so hopefully see what’s going on. Thank you :)

Justanotherdobby · 12/09/2025 09:35

@Abigilber45 Ah good, wish you all the best x
