Breathlessness with Hyperemesis

I am 10 + 2 with DC2. I suffered with hyperemesis throughout the entire last pregnancy and this one is no better. Currently on a mix of Ondansetron and Cyclizine to help the sickness and nausea, however I have started to become very breathless when just going from the bathroom to bed. Did anyone else experience this and should I be worried about it?

I had this with all 3 of my HG pregnancies and I put it down to low blood pressure and light headedness. It was so bad I couldn’t even shower or sit up in bed some days. Be aware however that if you are immobilised by sickness and are dehydrated your risk of blood clots will increase so if the breathlessness is acute and accompanied by other symptoms of dvt it is important to flag this with your gp or midwife.

Huge sympathies as the HG is horrible and a real challenge mentally and physically. I found the longrunning HG threads here invaluable at getting me through.

Low BP or anaemia most likely if it’s breathlessness on exertion, PE rare but higher risk as mentioned above

Hi I have been experiencing bad breathlessness and still am at 19 weeks. I had to do a presentation to about 150 staff on Monday and after a few mins of talking it became very obvious to everyone that I couldn’t catch my breath and it made my voice go all weird and wobbly. So embarrassing. I don’t have a solution other than to take it easy but I’ve heard it’s very common. But do monitor it as it could be a sign of dehydration if it’s accompanied by vomiting etc. Hope you feel better OP. X

You’re at increased risk of a blood clot, I’d see a doctor

I'd check with the GP. I had this and it was down to severe anaemia. I had to have a transfusion to sort it.
