help with baby girl names

My husband and I come from non-English speaking countries. We have been living in the UK for the past six years and will probably continue living here in the foreseeable future. Our baby girl will be born with British citizenship in addition to both of our nationalities, so we need a name that works across all three nationalities/languages.

We have already chosen a couple of names that we love and know work well in our home countries/mother tongues but wanted to run them by native English speakers to see how they sound and if they are easy to pronounce and use for people here. I also have been told that in this country people tend to use short forms for most names, so I will appreciate if you can let me know if and how each of the below names will be actually be used in every day life, at school or work, etc.

Jaana
Nila (or perhaps Niila?)
Delina
Deline (pronounced like Celine)

Many thanks!

I would suggest avoiding a double i or double a sound if you want something easy to pronounce for the average native English speaker.

However the most important thing is to choose a name that you both love - it is the burden of the person to pronounce their name properly, not yours to give them an easy to pronounce name. Good luck!

These are all lovely. 'Delina' and 'Deline' would be the easiest to pronounce and spell without issue, and I can see 'Delina' getting shortened to 'Lina' which I LOVE but you might not...

'Jaana' would be the most problematic, because I'm not sure if it's pronounced 'Yana', 'Jana' or 'Jane-ah', and I wouldn't necessarily assume to spell it with two 'a's. Similar issue with 'Nila' (or is it 'Nile-ah'?).

Having said that, I agree with @Parvule and think that you should choose something you love, everyone else can deal with it. I spell my name almost every time I introduce myself out of habit now because it's an odd one that sounds like a different, more usual name. It's not a big deal.

@Thankyouthankyoujellybean thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

"Jaana" is so far out most favourite one but as you said the spelling/pronunciation might be confusing. What spelling would you suggest for this name? It starts with the sound "J" not 'Y' and it's not "Jane-ah'. It's more like 'John-ah'.
