Hiya

Pregnant with first baby here, 28 weeks and just found out I have PGP/SPD after severe pain in the night.

paracetamol and prescribed codeine after doctor visit this morning have barely touched the pain.

looking for any pain management advice / how to get on at work (I’m a secondary school music and drama teacher so very active and require substantial circulation and visual assessment for learning).

One thing that helps massively is pillow between knees at night.

Giant tubee grip to keep your hips together and give support . Best get it sooner rather then later . The OT can get you one and a back/ maternity belt.

Sleep pillow is very good
Don’t even attempt to run or take wide strides.
Will make it worse . Had it with both mine & had lasting affects for several months after the birth.
Yoga & Pilates helped after but not during..
Do you have hyper mobility? As this can mean it’s worse. Warm baths every night helped with the pain. Unfortunately you’re stuck as you can take really strong painkillers . So you need to look at lessen how much you move & try to keep your movement small & slow Take things slow & steady and good luck.

Poor you. I’ve been in a similar position with active job and ended up off sick, with maternity leave then starting at 36 weeks. It’s agony; I feel for you. The more I tried to push through, the worse it got. I didn’t want to look like I was taking the mick at work and kept going in til I was much too frail. I ended up on crutches and then bed bound. It was an awful pregnancy. Please listen to your body. The more you push through pain now, the longer your recovery will be. This will make getting about with your lovely baby hard. Serola belt, crutches to take weight off the poor pelvis, pillow between your knees (or better still bbhug me pillow) tiny steps and look up the pelvic partnership website. Get signed off if you don’t want to be poorly for months postpartum. I think it took me a long while to realise that the level of pain I was in was not usual. Most women can walk by the end of pregnancy. If you are already struggling then you are sick, not just pregnant, and need to be off sick. Good luck. Happy to pm. X

Where can I get a big tubee grip from? I’ve had a look online but only the arms and ankles etc once’s seem to be popping up? I am also really struggling more so through the night at the moment. Pillow is helping somewhat but then my hips / outer upper leg is so so sore on both sides.
