Best co-sleeper crib

Can I please get recommendations?

I thought I wanted the Snuzpod but I've seen pictures of used ones and a lot of the zips seem to be broken.

Hoping to keep baby in our room until 9 months if possible, but I know a lot of the co-sleepers only accommodate up to 6 months.

Thanks.

I got our snuz from my sister and used it twice and it's still in good enough condition for me to give it to a friend. Only lasted 5 months though so then used a travel cot for the last month until i moved them to their own room

Silverfoxlady · 05/11/2023 17:36

Going back 10 years, we bought a cot bed from Mothercare that we could alter the height so that it matched our bed height, and that could have one side removed (so it can be pushed against it). My baby girl slept right next to me and I was able to feed her in the night.

shakeitoffsis · 05/11/2023 17:49

Snuzpod. Used the same one for both of mine and never once had an issue with the zip. Sold it recently and it looked new still. Why do you want them in your room till 9 months though?)

scrunchmum · 05/11/2023 17:54

Standard cosleeper cribs probably wouldn't be suitable beyond about 6 months as they are too low for babies who can sit up. You will need to look at a normal cot you can take the side off of and adjust the height of, or something like the next to me forever.

We have a normal next to me, for my daughter she was in that til 6 months but we continued cosleeping (necessity not choice Hmm) just in our bed. My babies are very long and they fitted in ok til 6 months

I had the snuzpod with my first, didn’t really like it. Bought the Baby Elegance Glide co-sleeper this time and I’m really impressed so far (2 week old). It’s much bigger than the Snuzpod, looks cozier and has a rocking feature!

scrunchmum · 05/11/2023 17:59

Also to add - Google suggests that the chicco next to me is one of the longest ones (and longer than snuzpod) which gives you more chance of using it for longer

InTheRainOnATrain · 05/11/2023 18:05

I think you’d need the next to me forever if you want it to last until 9 months? After 6 months they’re sitting up and at 9 months they’re often pulling to stand, and some may even be walking, so it’s not safe to use any of the standard cosleepers even if baby is small and still physically fits as they could topple out. If you get one of the others and are really set on the 9 months thing then you’d have to swap to a big cot and find space for it in your room.

Ive got the bog standard chicco next to me. Ill be using it for the second time soon and in the past few years its done the rounds with various friends who have had kids and its still perfect, obviously changed mattresses. Its big aswell and lasted my 1st child well beyond 6 months even though he crawled at 6 months it was never a safety issue for us.

popplego · 05/11/2023 18:29

Loved the snuzpod but DS (average sized baby) definitely outgrew it by 6mo. We moved the big cot into our room at that point, it wouldn't have been safe for him to be in the snuzpod by then anyway as he could roll/sit up etc

ShazzaF · 05/11/2023 18:41

I have the Chicco next to me forever and it's fab, absolutely love it. Easily worth the money. I don't understand why more companies aren't making cots like this. You can use it as a toddler bed until 4, so it covers way more bases than any other product I've seen.

Toddler101 · 05/11/2023 19:24

I used a Chicco Next2Me with dc1 and a SnuzPod3 for dc2.

Personally I prefer the SnuzPod. Feels sturdier, the bassinet is easily detachable - we used it downstairs, upstairs, on the floor in hotel rooms...works really well for us. Baby is 6.5m and just about still in it, baby is on the 75th percentile.

The Chicco Next2Me has a slightly larger sleeping area and dc1 was in it until around 8m when they outgrew it. It was a bit more rickety and to take away on holiday/nights away as you'd need to take the whole thing, frame straps and all, rather than just the sleeping bassinet so it's a bit of a faff.

SnuzPod looks neater too and has a handy fabric shelf thing underneath which we use for storing muslins!

Is there space in your room for a regular sized cot for when they outgrow whichever bedside crib you go for? Then baby can still stay in with you for as long as you like! I booted mine out into their own room at 18m.

Moveoverdarlin · 05/11/2023 19:27

I used a Chicco Next2Me. I loved it. Used it for both my babies. Really handy for breastfeeding as it slides right up to the bed.

Womanofmanycoats · 06/11/2023 00:48

I would suggest you look at the ‘ snuggle’ beside cot.
it’s a relatively new company - designed by a NI mum when she couldn’t find anything on the market to suit her wee ones needs
It’s bigger than Snuzpod.
No awkward legs ( I constantly stubbed toes on chicco)
The best feature that stood out to me personally is it- Very simple, clean and easy side up and down feature. Definitely my favourite compared to the chicco, red kite, Snuzpod and few others I looked at
It has a conversion kit for proper massive cot - which avoids using traditional bars
Retails at £169 which is comparable to some but feels even higher end
I would recommend going in store and looking at real life to get feel for which you prefer

My baby hated the Chicco, never slept in it. We ended up using a Moses basket next to the bed, and then just put the main crib up in our room and used that. They moved into their room around 8-9 months and it was a seamless move as they were already used to their cot.

FirstTim3Mummy · 08/11/2023 18:45

Should the chicco next to me be the same level as the bed mattress? We couldn't get them to alone, there was a 2-5cm dip from mattress to next to me mattress
