Hi,
So I found out my pregnant after trying for years, I had miscarriages so my gp sent me for some blood work it has came back that my Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody is high and he wants to discuss that with me tomorrow. I had a Scan on baby last week (7weeks) and baby had strong heart beat and it all looked fine but now I’m stressing..
Can anyone explain it abit better to me
or
any positive pregnancy stories ect
Thankyou in advance

Hello, congratulations on your pregnancy! Did your GP also test your TSH, T4 and T3, and what were the results? Thyroid conditions do need to be managed carefully during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester. Women who are already taking thyroxine medication usually have their dosage increased during pregnancy, and my endocrinologist recommended maintaining a TSH of less than 2.5. However, if your thyroid function tests are normal despite TPO antibodies, they may just want to regularly test you. I would ask for a referral to an endocrinologist who are the experts!

@Whataboutye88
thankyou for your reply and I’m not sure I had a list of different tests but only one that showed up high was that one, just waiting until tomorrow for my app with the gp I’m just going crazy while I wait as I’ve been Googling everything and it is worrying me as I’m so early. But I will 100% ask to be referred to endocrinologist thankyou

Try not to worry (easy to say I know!). The good thing is they’ve identified that your antibodies are high and if there is an underlying issue with your thyroid it can generally be managed fairly easily. You can absolutely have a normal healthy pregnancy and it’s great your GP is getting you back in to discuss it so quickly. Good luck 😊.
