Vitamin b12 deficiency at 26 weeks pregnant

Just found out that I am b12 deficient after feeling quite unwell throughout the majority of my pregnancy and I am now having to get a course of urgent injections. Has anyone else had this at similar stage in pregnancy? Interested to hear outcomes as I've googled and some of the effects a b12 deficiency can have sound awful.

I have had the injections for years and have continued through pregnancy. You will probably need a loading dose (a few over a couple of weeks) and then after that it's one every three months of they decide you still need it. You'll feel better after a few days and it's very easy to manage x

Hey there, if you can manage it make yourself a plate a liver and onions cooked in butter. Full of iron and b12, and all sorts. Also very bioavailable (easy to absorb).
Good luck!!

@Unabletomitigate unfortunately that doesn't work for many people. For some people, their body is simply unable to absorb b12 from from food

PS- liver in pregnancy is an absolutely no no.

@Unabletomitigate - from the nhs website - Liver and liver products have lots of vitamin A in them. This can be harmful to an unborn baby.

I was diagnosed with it at 23 weeks. I had 6 loading doses over 2 weeks. I stressed about it but apart from feeling a bit tired and reflux (I get anyway but worse then usual after the doses) I was fine. I'm 30 weeks now and can't say I feel hugely better tbh but that may just be 3rd trimester exhaustion 🙈
