Hey, I had placenta previa and it's really scary but also very common.
All c sections have lots of people in the room and it can be overwhelming but in the pre op room people generally introduce themselves and tell you why they are there. You will also have a few midwifes off the ward with you that stay before your surgery until a hour or so after. You won't be left alone to panic or wonder and you can keep asking loads of questions. During surgery everyone chats it's not silent like the films.

As for a c section I've had 2 now and they are not like a surgery for a broken leg etc.. the room is buzzing with midwifes telling you things like "your baby has hair" "here they come" then they drop the curtain (not enough so you can see anything just the baby) and it's magical. They then get the baby all cleaned and you can hold them and by the time you've even processed that your tiny human is here your surgery is done.

You will not die in your c section, you need to keep telling yourself that. They have loads of standby equipment/bloods/drs etc... everything will be fine as they are doing the surgery with 100% knowledge of what they are dealing with.

As for recovery, you will probably be able to get out of bed the same day if you have early surgery. My advise is that they will offer you a suppository pain killer that lasts about 5 hours. Get up while that's still working and don't leave it until the next day (unless you have to obvs) as the next day getting out of bed is a killer.
You will be able to do things but just slowly and carefully. You just might need help getting your lower half dressed and getting out of bed after sleeping etc..

Get yourself extra pillows or use your pregnancy pillow to prop your belly too if your a side sleeper as it won't go down straight away and if it pulls to the side your stitches can hurt so treat it like its still full if that makes sense haha.

I hope I've not blagged your head, everything will go perfectly. Congrats mama! You will get through this and have one hell of a birth story for when your little ones older haha 😄
