24 weeks pregnant- bending over panic!

A safe place for my irrational anxieties!

I’m 24 weeks pregnant and I haven’t felt the most agile during my pregnancy so far!

I have persistently struggled with my mobility and feeling strain and uncomfortable doing the most standard tasks.

When putting my shoes on like one does… stood up, bending over (as I don’t have a seated area to put shoes on in my house), it feels greatly uncomfortable and comes with some pain… Now I am worrying that this could have hurt the baby and is it safe for me to put my shoes on this way!

Anxiety overdrive!

You don’t have anywhere in your house to sit to put on shoes?

Seryse · 27/10/2023 14:47

Buy a shoe horn?

You won't hurt the baby by bending over. But surely you have a chair in your house somewhere?

Juicyjuicymango · 27/10/2023 14:51

Bring your shoes to the kitchen or living room and put them on. It won't hurt the baby but if it's causing you pain then this is an obvious solution...

It'll be ligament pain most likely, baby is fine
Where you are being ridiculous is by not just putting a stop to no shoes in the house for 6 months so you can sit down and put your shoes on. What will hurt the baby is you toppling over trying to get shoes on standing on one leg

Sit at your kitchen table, sofa or on your bed to put on your shoes!!

PinkRoses1245 · 27/10/2023 14:57

Just take shoes and sit anwhere. But bending will be fine, loads of women do exercise all through pregnancy which involves bending.

Fluffysockswizzard · 27/10/2023 15:11

I'm sure bending won't harm your baby but as others have said it will be you that suffers. Just grab your shoes and sit on the sofa to put them on. You could risk falling over otherwise especially later on

I don’t think it’s kind calling a mum to be ridiculous. I think you need to rethink what mumsnet is about and if you can’t be kind with your words do not comment.

It’s such a different body when you are pregnant and hard to manoeuvre sometimes. Anxieties are normal in pregnancy as you want everything to be well. Where was the pain? If running down the back you could have sciatica which is common. Also at 24 weeks bump is huge enough to cause hip pain. If possible could you see a pregnancy friendly osteopath for some gentle release. There are various pregnancy yoga classes which are gentle and slow moving which may help you keep some mobility too. We have very stationary lives which help our bodies seize up and much more noticeable when pregnant. Obviously if you have felt a sharp pain or feel any reduce movements then go to your maternity ward to be checked out. Most midwives are happy to check and give reassurance.
