My DD is only 9mo old and I'm pregnant again (nearly 6 weeks). I've had a bit of pinkish discharge going on and have been getting a stinging sensation low down. AS well as worrying about possible miscarriage, I'm also I'm worried about the old scar and how it is likely to hold up given that there is such a short time between the two pregnancies.

Does anyone have any advice? Or been in a similar situation.

I'm phoning the EPU for an appointment tomorrow.

My friend got pregnant when her boy was 7 months (big baby)and had to have a c section. She ended up with the 2nd being a natural birth (again big baby)and all well. 2nd birth was easier she said!

thanks lalaland1. I just wasn't sure about the statistics for uterine rupture, whether it is worse the closer together the two pregnancies are. I was going to Google it, but I know that is a dangerous thing to do and I'll worry myself unneccesarily.

I should've asked my GP when I was there on Monday!

She was fully dilated with baby no1 when she had to go for section-he didn't want to come out.So she worried about having to have section the 2nd time what with a baby and recovery time and so I asked my mudwife. She said that as long as my friend had been fully dilated she could go for a nat birth 2nd time.I guess that if she hadn't been then they had no reference to my friends capacity of pushing or something. Sure previous section hightens risks and so they only let you push so much and if baby takes too long they feel the need to interfere so you don't end up with extra complications. Basically they keep a watchful eye on you if you chose nat birth after section.

I talked to my doc about the VBAC stuff, it was just the gap between the births I'm concerned about and the effect on my uterus right now (as I've had some pinkish discharge). My last baby was the second section I'd had as well, so I will probably opt for a third, but given the pinksih discharge at the moment, the birth isn't my immediate concern

Sorry, got carried away with birth then!Deffo see EPU if any bleed at all!The only way to calm down I think.have you had normal periods yet (after birth)? Took me absolute ages to heal up after my section, bled for an eternity.Maybe implantation pain or bleed? If you get no pain together with gush of red blood I wouldn't worry yet!

I had 15 months etween 2 and 3 so was preg 5 months after c-section. Then 15 months getween 2 and 3. Scar held up fine.
I then gave birth to number 4 8 years later and the scar was still fine despitea vaginal delivery.

Signing out now, just wanted to say good luck lackaDAISYcal with your pregnancy! Try not to worry to much-sometimes we make it worse then it actually is that way!See EPU and then take it day by day!Best wishes!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 15:34

It's reassuring to know that there are others with little gaps .

After my first section, it took me five years!

I'll still get on to the EPU tomorrow though, even though things seem to have settled down a bit.

Thanks for your all of your replies
