Hi so usually in our area we self refer to the midwife. You could google your local hospital and it should tell you pregnancy options on there. Etc birth plans, what to expect etc and you can fill out a form online.
Then you'll be sent appts in the post. You have a booking in appt at around 10 weeks to discuss your background and dads.
Then you'll have your first scan around 11-13 weeks, another at 20 weeks. And blood tests inbetween.
You'll also be told to start taking folic acid every day up to I think it's 12 weeks? Can't remember I'm due June 25th, you must be close to me?
Congratulations!

have you technically missed your period?

if you haven’t- take your folic acid and vitamin D (any general pregnancy vitamins will have this) and fingers crossed for the best for a week of two. This is relevant because you don’t want a midwife calling to offer you an appointment if your period came and your pregnancy tests fade to negative.

it depends on your area but most places work on self referral so just Google your nhs trust and maternity referral and complete the form. A midwife will then contact you with an appointment.

if you want- you might like to go for a private reassurance scan to check the pregnancy is correct for the dates and in the right place.
people poo-poo this but it’s common practice in many countries, but the NHS just doesn’t have the infrastructure to support it. Wait until you are at least 6-7 weeks though.

gentle congratulations! Sorry to be negative- wishing all is well and progresses as it should.

Google your local midwife unit and there will likely be information to self refer on there. Make sure you are taking at least folic acid and vitamin D

I’ve just been through this! Tested positive Friday so have been taking folic acid with vit d daily (they come in one pill just from boots/any shop)

I called my GP who explained i need to self refer to a local maternity clinic who will arrange an initial appointment and then the first scan a few weeks after. There’s a few close to me so I looked at cqc and one was rated better than the other so I’ve completed their form on their website.

one thing I was worried about was making a massive decision to commit to right now but I’ve been assured you can move to a different hospital any time if you change your mind.

good luck and congrats! bring on June 2024😍
