I want to know all the positive stories who pumped from the get go. I'm looking to do it. So dad can do nights. I'll be breastfeeding during the day. Have baba on one boob and pump on the other. I'll also pump once between 2am and 4am. They say it's when you get the most milk.

Yes I know there's a risk for mastitis. I know the signs. And it's not going to stop me doing it. I have read some successful stories but would like to hear more 😊

Tia

I would like to add I did pump in the beginning with my son but didn't continue it as it was just easier to lob him on the boob. But this time want to do it much longer.

I pumped exclusively for my daughter for eight months- she was a NICU baby and 3lb6oz so struggled with her latch. We eventually managed to get her to feed directly for her night feeds but I expressed during the day as she was more confident with a bottle. It was hard going but we got into a good routine and worked for us, good luck ☺️

I'm in the thick of this right now - 1 week in! Baby girl was struggling with latch in the hospital, I was post c section struggling and it felt like the right choice in the moment. And it's working quite well - it's a job and a half but that's whilst I'm trying to ensure good supply etc. I do offer the breast as much as I can but I feel better knowing what she's getting etc especially as she lost 10% after birth so she's under some extra midwife checks🥰

in short - go for it !!!! I really recommend the momcozy hospital grade handsfree. I get 9oz in 20 mins now a week in xxxx

Aww congratulations. Glad its working well for you. 😊 I'll definitely look in to it. 9oz in 20 mins is bloody good. If I can get that I'd soon have the freezer stocked up! I think once we get a routine established itll be fine. Just getting there. I appreciate my partner taking over nights catch up on sleep. I don't mind if pumping once through the night. Xxxx

I tried (for the same reasons, so my DH could do night feeds) but it was very annoying and tiring so we just used cartons of ready made formula instead. It was only one feed in 24 hours so made not the slightest difference to my supply.

That's fair enough.

I won't be adding formula. I did with my son as he had tongue tie. But this time just wants to be 100% breastmilk.

I pumped from a very early stage and having a break at night made all the difference, otherwise I don't think I would have been able to make a go of breastfeeding (I'm still feeding my 6 month old now). Definitely pump once at night but it doesn't need to take long. After a few weeks I rented a medela hospital grade pump which is very powerful but not hands free. Whatever pump you get be careful about the positioning and flange size, nipples are very sensitive at the beginning!

Thank you. Appreciate your message. Good to hear that it worked so well. It definitely does help to have a break during the night. Ive been told I'd have to pump more but going to see how it goes

I pumped for twins and wish to God looking back I had done this.
It was a lot of work and pressure and I might have enjoyed the first three months more if I hadn't put this on myself as well.

I pumped from week 2 until 14 months (exclusive). There are some wonderful Facebook groups out there - Exclusively pumping UK mums is a great one with loads of tips. It totally is possible! You've got this, mama 💪🏻 I started off with an Ardo hospital pump, then used a hand pump for 7 months (LOL no idea what I was thinking) before settling on a Medela Freestyle.

The momcozy, fraupow never worked for me (didn't get enough milk) but I didn't try the Medela Freestyle wearable as that's quite new.

If latch doesn't happen again this time, I'll be back on it! 😊
