Unsure about baby movements/IBS interference

24w +2 with an anterior placenta. I think I’ve felt movements after lunch, swimming and when in bed but not felt anything last two days, when Ive had IBS pain and bloating and been stressed, except for when I got worried last night and really poked around! Even then I cant be sure if it was my intestines or baby!

  1. Is there any diagram that shows exactly where the intestines go in relation to stomach! All the pics seems to just show baby or unlabelled squiggles! I would feel better if I could understand where food is and where baby is!
  2. Is this a reason to call emergency maternity number? It seems extreme as Im just not sure either way
  3. Has anyone else struggled to feel baby kicks due to IBS flare ups? Sorry for long post!

Regular movements aren’t expected until 28 weeks which is when midwives will ask you to keep an eye on patterns. Before then it’s normal to not feel regular movements. If you are worried of course ring midwives for reassurance.

Thanks, thats pretty much what the midwife said when I rang just in case. It was the NHS website that scared me(says to get checked urgently after 24 weeks)

Still early days yet for movements. Also one of mine had an anterior placenta and I couldn't feel much at all.

If you’ve been feeling movements before and aren’t anymore, definitely ring maternity.

They are very used to women coming in for reduced movements, you don’t need to feel that you’re wasting their time or anything like that.

It’s very low key, they’ll put some pads on your bump and connect it to a machine, you lie there for half an hour. Hopefully all will be well, and then you get to go home, with your mind at ease. Better to be safe than sorry.

Advice on nice places to live in the South (need to be nearish family) with a newborn , preferably with shared ownership houses in the area?
criteria: No car needed
trains to London( partner WFH now but could change to two days in)
Access to countryside without having to get a bus
good facilities/social opportunities for mums with young children
Nice cafes to sit in with a baby
hospital nearby rated good
not a big town

Midwives will say that until 28 weeks it can be irregular movement so try not to worry. I felt like I had been having regular movements so at around 24 weeks I went in to be checked with my first as was worried. All they could do was check the heartbeat but it reassured me. Perhaps you can ask if they will do that to put your mind at rest.

Re places to live. How about somewhere like Christchurch? 1-2 stops from the new forest on the train. Lovely river to walk along, nice little town with some shops and parks for kids. And Bournemouth/Southampton not far for big shops. Can get to London in 2 hours, might be too far for you though.
