i've been told by 2 people that if you conceive late in your fertile period then it's a boy
anyone know if this is true? or an old wives tale
sort of hoping for a girl - but don't mind really - just curious as only 12 weeks so ages to go till i find out and want to but some clothes now!

according the shettle's method that would mean a higher chance of a boy assuming you ovulated on approx day 14/15 - meaning you have regular 28 day cycles. If your cycles are longer than that then when you ovulated would be later.

You have a 50/50 chance.

must be why people have been saying a boy

female sperm lives longer then male sperm. So if you have sex three days before ovulation, by the time ovulation occurs, most of the male sperm will be dead and the female sperm will still be alive, and it's more likely a girl will be concieved.

If you have sex on the day of ovulation or just after, this gives the male sperm a better chance.

I really wouldn't start buying boy's clothes on the basis of this however!

Yeah - I tried that logic after reading all of the books - and according to the 20 week scan, have still ended up with a boy!!!
And am now finding the whole thing really hard to accept!!!

Well I did, and it was. I'm not sure that proves anything though.

Only one BD that month on CD18 = girl
Only one BD that month on CD11 = girl
BD CD 10,12 and 14 = girl

I have come to the conclusion we produce girls!
