Sterilising bottles before or after hospital?

Hi ladies
just wanted to get some advice from mums with bubbas on sterilising bottles.
my idea was to sterilise everything before I went to hospital so that when I come home it’s all ready to go… only I found out today that bottles only stay sterile for 24 hours.
I’ve already washed, sterilised, and dried just because I wanted to practice, but I’m a bit confused as to when I would do it again? Do I do it when I’m in Labour before I go to hospital? Or do I wait until I come home?
I know it sounds ridiculous that I don’t know this but I’ve not had kids in my family and my mum says none of these rules applied when I was born lol…
I’m worried about not having everything prepared and conscious that I don’t want to be faffing around with bottles when I come home with a newborn that’s hungry! … any advice would be gratly appreciated!!!

I've waited until I got home.

Yeah just do it when you get home. You could buy one of those newborn packs for the first few feeds if you want to not have to sterilise.

Like PP both times I took newborn starter sets to hospital. Then I sterilised bottles before I needed to use them at home. I didn't end up giving either a bottle for about a fortnight each time in the end.

You get disposable new born packs of ready made formula with a sterilised teat you add to the top. People use them in hospital and for the early days.

We had to provide our own formula and bottles in hospital - so I just bought a few boxes of the prepared milks in the little glass bottles that had teats. There was enough to last us the first few days back at home too.

Oh yes I used those bottles too. It was 11 and 13 years ago though so I don't know if things have changed.

Definitely do it when you get home. Only takes a few minutes. Pointless doing it before you go, you could end up in hospital for several days.

get the hospital packs of formula for the first few days, especially during night feeds when your back home and still a bit sore
