ok really stupid post but I am now getting to point where nothing I can do when I sit down is comfortable - tried cushions , different positions and its all awkward. Problem is that either backaches or feel breathless if sit still too long.

Am now thinking about either buying one of those mouldable pillows or a birthing ball as might be easier but please any tips before I waste any money or drive dh any more mad with my fidgets.

A birthing ball might be the answer. I love mine and it's very comfortable when nothing else is. Plus, I think they're only about a fiver in Argos, so you'll not break the bank if it's not the answer. For some reason when they're called 'birthing balls' they're about 3 times the price as when they're called 'sport balls' or 'exercise balls' but I have never worked out the difference.

Have you tried putting a firm beanbag on the sofa and kneeling on the sofa, leaning forward onto the beanbag? That's often the most comfey way I find to watch tv in the evenings.

Argos tip is a good one -and glad its not just me who can't see what the difference between balls are and the ones you see in the gym

I'm 26 weeks and have been experiencing back problems and found finding a comfortable position a nightmare too! I went to see a physiotherapist and he advised me to sit with my pelvis pointed down. I know it sounds wierd and at first it feels like you're creating an even bigger arch in your back, but it's really helped me.

Basically, a bit like pilates, tip your pelvis up as far as you can go (so it's pointing to the ceiling), then point it down as far as possible (so you're pushing your bump out a bit), then find a less extreme tipping down position that is comfortable for you.

Hope this helps!
