Reduced movements fine on monitor, but want to induce

I was in yesterday for reduced movements at 38 weeks. Hooked up to the monitor for half an hour and all fine. The doctor came in to chat and said because of reduced movements they want to induce.
But I'm confused because if everything is fine on the monitor, do I want to be induced so early?
Have previously been induced nearer 42 weeks and it was fine but worried about being so early. I am having a few Braxton Hicks, the baby is definitely moving less today as well, leaky boobs, bit of a sore tummy.
Does anyone have experience of having induction recommendation even when monitoring was fine?

The Dr may not want to state the obvious? Which is what a pp has suggested above - I dont even want to say it myself

The concerning thing is if that Dr has gone off shift the new Dr may not agree with their suggestion then you’d be worried sick

I had the same at 38+3, I'd been in 2 weeks prior for reduced movements too, and typically both times as soon as I went on the monitor she started wriggling away. I was told they were offering me the induction to offer me "peace of mind". I didn't really question it at the time, I was induced the following evening via pessary and gave birth 24 hrs later. All the best x

My consultant said that reduced movements were the only thing that I could look out for that wasn't obvious labour or sickness in myself.

I guess their choice is let you go home and possibly get reduced movements again, or naturally come to labour, or advise the induction. From their perspective, either way you're coming in, and soon. So to them - why not minimise the risk and do it now? For you - you will be more conscious of how you feel about being induced, and the risks of that induction. (Rightly or wrongly, they will be biased towards them managing the risks rather than the unknown).

For what it's worth, I've just turned down a sweep at 37.5 weeks given that my baby is transparently happy as Larry in there, and is only 50% engaged, and I have no manifest risk factors myself. But for you a risk factor DID show up, and maybe that's reason to think it through?

How are things @Marven?

Marven · 11/10/2023 19:28

@mumtotwox all ok thanks. Have to call up for induction time tomorrow. Everything is fine and she actually seems busier in there now. I do have piece of mind, but they want to induce.
Feels a bit silly given that they keep saying it's all fine.
