What's your favourite?

I'm 34E so need some decent support (physically, if not mentally!).

Fed up with saggy bras and boring black and white.

Advice much appreciated.

Hotmilk
Bravissimo
made in femmes

PearTart · 07/03/2008 12:15

The mail order stuff looks great but experience says I need to try on first.

Last trip to Bravissimo a nightmare as DD1 fell over and bawled and they had run out of my size in everything. Will try again as it's new season and leave DD at home...
Anyone road tested their stuff?

PS M&S so naff.

I got fitted at Bravissimo a few weeks ago for a maternity bra. It is such a poor fit that I have not worn it since. Not impressed at all.

MrsBadger · 07/03/2008 12:20

Ilana, take it back and complain

dylansmumplusone · 07/03/2008 12:42

peartart the stock is low but look at the mothercare 'panache' range. not the nursing but the maternity. they actually give you shape and feel quite sexy! (and good support)

PearTart · 07/03/2008 13:25

Will do!

let me know if you like it if you decide to get one. i bought one and have been wearing it every day for a month, it's starting to grow off me! may have to invest in another!

papaya · 07/03/2008 14:28

I am currently a 36G and have only ever found www.figleaves.com to fit me accurately, they also do underwired maternity and nursing bras, I can't stand wire free bra's during pregnancy, thats when I need more support, not less

PearTart · 07/03/2008 17:44

Totally agree with you papaya. I need the extra support of wire when they get this heavy. Glad you can get underwired nursing bras. Will investigate.

Thanks all for the advice.
Shopping trip for me then this weekend...

Someone posted a decent tip for me - you don't need both a maternity and a nursing bra. A nursing bra will do both jobs.

I refuse to spend £35 each on maternity bras only to have to do the same again in a few weeks when the baby is here!

MrsBadger · 07/03/2008 18:25

the only problem with that is your ribs normally expand in pg then shrink after the birth

eg pre-pg I was a 32B, ballooned to 34D, now (6m later) 32DD

no way one bra would have done both jobs

pregnancy1 · 07/03/2008 20:22

After putting up with completely uselss M&S ones I found Mothercare went up to a E cup (usually 32 back, but had to go to 36 to fit, but wear it on the tightest setting and it's fine). Am going to struggle if I get any bigger though....

rawnipps · 07/03/2008 20:39

Once you know your right size, brastop.co.uk do cheap-ish bigger sized bras, I've used them a lot - esp since my hooters are huge so I tend to wear out any decent nursing bras quite quickly by wearing them constantly...
It just depends what they have in stock at the time though - I usually order a few and try them on, it's free to return them I'm pretty sure... I really like the ones agent provocateur have - so pretty! - and the after-birth-pull-in-pants, but at £60 each I can't justify it .
Enjoy your shopping!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 07/03/2008 20:46

mine arrived today - BLISS

elvisgirl · 10/03/2008 02:03

I've always found Bravissimo to be good - even if they don't have the size they will order it in the shop then send free of charge and you can return to a shop or exchange if still no good. But I do concede their maternity range is not great.
Recently I tried bras4mums.co.uk and had a 20minute phone consultation - they really know what they're talking about.
(I am around a 30G-H so know what it's like)

www.figleaves.com/uk/nsf/qwiser.asp?term=Maternity+Bras&lhn=1

Hopefully the link will work. If not,it's on the figleaves website, maternity bras and he first bra, Anita underwired nursing bra.

I have just received this and so far so good. I have been wearing non underwired mat bras since I found out I was pregnant. I am 37 weeks and am normally 34 D but have the 34 F on. Its not as hideous as other bigger mat/nursing bras, the shoulder straps are wider than a normal bra (max 1.5-2cm wide)but the best bit is the support and shape it gives me (underwired - hoorah!!). I just need to decide if a G may be better seeing as I am expecting further growth once the milk comes in. They do only have black and white though so not so sure they will be any good. My boobs finally feel like they are where they should be instead of sitting limply on top of bump . Don't think they have been this high since I was a teen!

imopop · 11/03/2008 19:26

Peartart
I am 34f and anita nursing bras are the best. You can get them from figleaves. They make your boobs look supported and give fab shape

chocbiscuits · 11/03/2008 21:36

I bought SO many bras when I was pg, I started 34DD and ended up 36H - and went through all the sizes in between. Just bought one of each and washed and dried it quick. Also had a 'large' sleep bra.
Bought most of them from figleaves and bravissimo. Then I found I had to get nursing bras afterwards. My favourite for support was a front fastening with three hooks. it wasn't the easiest for public feeding though. There was also a good one with zip cups, again better for home.
