Reacting to sounds in the womb

I’m 32 weeks with my first baby and even though I do feel movements (thankfully) my baby doesn’t respond to sounds. I’ve tried different styles of music and I talk but there never seems to be movements in response. I can’t stop worrying about it.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My baby doesn’t either. They also tend to stop moving when I rub my stomach. I think they’re just gonna be their own person doing their own thing! I wouldn’t worry - not all babies get the urge to dance when the music comes on (same as not all people do 🤷🏼‍♀️).

My first responded to noises and has hearing issues, my second never responded to sounds and can hear the slightest packet rustling from 3 miles away. I really wouldn’t worry about anything like that. I’ve never had any respond to music or voices though, only loud sudden noises that make them jump.

My baby didn’t respond to sounds in the womb and I was so worried. She was born a week ago and has no hearing issues! I wouldn’t worry, I don’t think it indicates anything

Your baby should not yet respond to sounds. One way to think about it is association. Your baby feels what you feel. So, when you are calm and relaxed play a tune/sound. Then when they are born, you can play the sound and hopefully recreate the peace.
I did this when I wa pregnant. Bought a cute toy that played a tune. Played it to my belly when I was relaxed throughout my pregnancy. Then used it with my baby. Cant say it did much. But i enjoyed it!

My DS didn't respond to sounds in the womb, unless they were sudden, loud noises like a dog barking or fireworks and I would feel him jump suddenly. I didn't really think anything about it at the time when I was pregnant. He's now a lively 2.5 year old now with no hearing issues (except typical selective toddler hearing!)

Neither of mine ever noticeably responded to sounds in the womb. They have no apparent hearing or developmental problems

I never knew this was a thing!

I had my children over a quarter of a century ago or more and never even thought about them hearing sounds from inside the womb.🤷🏼‍♀️

I only remember DS responding to a full orchestra playing Wagner about a foot away (front row of stalls at ROH) a few days after his due date.
