Hi ladies I’m in a pickle. Have 3 kids one of which is 13 weeks, we do not want anymore. I am on the contraceptive patch. Things have been hectic and I literally couldn’t remember when I was due to take it off. I remember having a bleed then putting a new one on but it’s that one I can’t remember. I put on a new one yesterday and we had sex yesterday night and I’m due to ovulate tomorrow according to my app. It’s accurate as it’s how I conceived my other 3 children. I’m just worried because I haven’t used the patch properly this week I’m not fully protected and I’m going to become pregnant 😩😩😩 does anyone have any advice or wise words please

You could go and get the morning after pill or the copper coil inserted?

Theaviator · 07/10/2023 17:29

cooper coil would be done by gp and there not open until Monday. And the morning after pill is probably the best shout but funds are extremely tight at the moment, ovbiously I would if needed but I’d like to avoid that. If I was to get pregnant we’d just adjust to having another child but ideally were done, hence why contraception. Hubs has the snip booked for 23rd Nov!

If you don't get the MAP tonight it may be too late (as you're due to ovulate tomorrow). The sooner you take it, the better.

£25 or whatever it is is much cheaper than a baby.

Whataretheodds · 07/10/2023 17:36

MAP - ovbiously I would if needed but I’d like to avoid that.
Not sure what alternatives you are expecting people to come up with.

SleepingStandingUp · 07/10/2023 17:41

Op no one can tell you that there aren't a ton of sperm hanging around to get fruity on the booty of your fresh juicy egg.yoi may conceive, you may not. You seem quite blasé despite the post - well we'll just adjust even though there would be less than a year difference and hey, it's better than getting the MAP even tho money is too tight to justify £25.

Theaviator · 07/10/2023 17:41

No not alternatives but the likelihood of becoming pregnant and whether it’s worth buying it.

Sorry to get here so fast OP but it's 100% worth the £25 as you are certain you don't want anymore. Not even a question haha

eandz13 · 07/10/2023 17:45

I mean, the likelihood of pregnancy is greater if you don't take the MAP. It's up to you and how much you trust your patch timing judgement really.

Mumof1andacat · 07/10/2023 17:45

I would say it hasn't offered protection

Cowlover89 · 07/10/2023 17:51

Definitely get it if you don't want anymore.

Theaviator · 07/10/2023 18:23

So guess it’s either the MAP or wait and see 🤦🏻‍♀️ thanks ladies

Whataretheodds · 08/10/2023 13:01

'Wait and see' isn't a method of contraception 🙄

Retrogamer · 08/10/2023 13:10

If you don't want to risk being pregnant then you got to get the MAP. Waiting to see is a bit of an irresponsible gamble.

Google free morning after pill and your area.
There is a government thing in some chemists. You will need to make an appointment and fill in a form.
