6+3 sickness is horrendous

This ‘morning’ sickness is killing me at 6+3 pregnant with 3rd child. I never had any issues with other 2 pregnancies and this one is absolutely horrendous.

I feel sick 24/7, all day and I’m up at 6/6.30am every morning retching over the toilet 3 times but nothing comes up bar a bit of squash phlegm sorry tmi. And then just constantly feel nauseous ALL day.

Drinking fluid and snacking and getting enough sleep when the sickness doesn’t feel like waking me up. I am EXHAUSTED. especially with trying to look after my other 2 children (3&4).

I rang the GP and they prescribed some anti sickness medication of Cyclizine Hydrochloride which has taken the edge off ever so slightly, and I mean only slightly but I feel they make me really drowsy which equally then makes me feel worse as all I want to do is crash in bed.

And the headaches! Omg the headaches never seem to be going away either! I just genuinely feel SO SO SO poorly with it all.

any advise? What got you through this horrendous sickness and exhaustion?!

honestly cannot do this 😭

I’m nearly 6 weeks and have awful nausea as well. Not being sick either but coughing and wretching constantly and sometimes bringing up phlegm.

I did have this up until 28 weeks with my first pregnancy but not as early or as severe. I also get excess saliva as if I’m about to be sick all the time. I got some ginger and lemon herbal teas and they’ve been helping, also having bland snacks helps. Not healthy at all but salted crisps is best for me - I had hummus crisps yesterday and they stopped the sickness for 2 hours.

Youre not alone!

The cyclizine gets better the longer you take it. It made me feel really drowsy but if you keep taking it regularly (I think mine was 3 times a day) suddenly the tiredness for me was gone and also the sickness and I felt great it was about a week of my body getting used to the medication and then I felt normal.

My first pregnancy was pretty good (mild sickness for a couple of weeks) and my second was like this. I used to think I wanted to have three children, but I couldn't face being pregnant again, the constant guilt about my older child, falling so behind at work, feeling so week and debilitated.

I would join the hyperemesis thread. They're full of sympathy and some good advice, though to be realistic there isn't all that much you can do. For me the sickness lasted until about 20 weeks, faded for ten week, and then was back in the third trimester. I felt better the day after having a massive hemorrhage and a c-section than I had done for the previous nine months! Also the early weeks of my son's life were a joy, partly because I was so delighted not to feel sick.

Can you take the medication late afternoon so you can eat an evening meal then sleep it off and might feel capable of eating some breakfast? If you have nasty headaches are you actually dehydrated? If you can't keep enough water down you may need a different treatment.
Sympathies from me as it is a truly grim experience.

You have my sympathies. I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy. I had hg and becoming incapacitated from even performing the most basic living and hygiene tasks was truly horrific for me and my mental health and for DH to witness his wife becoming literally bed bound. I would ask for stronger medication. I used ondansetron but during the second trimester. I believe there's xonvea now but also causes drowsiness but you need to take it before bed. Speak to your doctor.
