Pregnant and covid cough

NC just for this post as identifying.

I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant and have just tested positive for covid for the first time ever.

I tested as I’ve had a mild cough for a month, but it’s suddenly got worse over the past few days.

My only symptom is a dry cough but it’s horrendous.

I can’t sleep, it’s making me throw up, and it’s making my old c section scar burn. So this is challenging while I have to work and take care of my toddler.

I am taking paracetamol and some rubbish pregnancy-safe benylin (Glycerol). Trying some antihistamine this morning as well to try and help me sleep as I’ve been up most of the night.

Any advice please for how I can ease this cough?

I wasn't in exactly your situation but I boiled whole peeled ginger root for a couple of hours and mixed the resultant liquid with manuka honey and lime.

V soothing. You could also add turmeric as another anti-inflammatory.

Are you using plenty of pillows to prop yourself up when you're asleep?

@Whataretheodds Thank you :) Yes I had move downstairs last night to sleep propped up on the sofa. Still couldn’t sleep much though. Maybe 3-4 hours at most.

You poor thing!

The only other practical things I could suggest would be
an eye mask
inhaling steam for 10 minutes at least before bed (dry cough gets worse the more you cough, steam lubricates your vocal folds and can be soothing?
Soothing music or sleep playlist (maybe some meditative breathing?) You might not want earphonws/earplugs if you're listening out for your toddler, I realise.

I know it's not the same as Nuking it with night nurse or stronger! Just trying to make sure you can relax your body as much as possible even if you're not actually sleeping.
