Screening tests in Northern Ireland

Hi,

I'm just wondering has anyone went privately for screening tests in Northern Ireland? My understanding is, they are not offered routinely at the 12 week appointment/scan. Is this correct?

Due to my age (38) I was considering booking a nipt test at 10 weeks. Has anyone done this?

Also is this the same as the harmony test?

Thanks in advanc

Sorry I'm not too much help, but I know that Ultrasound Direct (Belfast) offers the NIPT test.
I actually got the Quad test done on the NHS (it's about 70-80% accurate though compared to the NIPT which is 99%). I just rang my hospital and asked to book it. Didn't have to pay anything, and got a letter less than a week later with the results.

I had an early dating scan at Ultrasound Direct on Lisburn road in Belfast last week when I was around 9 weeks. I don't think you can get an appointment with the hospital until you're 13 weeks. As I'm already 40, I'm also thinking to have NIPT with Ultrasound Direct later after I get checked in the hospital.

Thanks for your responses.
@Charlielechat I thought I read that some trusts offer it (possibly belfast?) But not sure if all offer it. I'm attending the epu for early scans due to recurrent miscarriage, so I'll ask them if having the quad test is an option. Would obviously be nice to not have to pay.

@Alice0703 I had a look at Ultrasound direct and it's looks to be about £200 cheaper than Kings Bridge - not sure what the difference is in th tests or how the price difference is justified- will have to look into it.

As much as I am grateful for the NHS, definitely definitely go private. We had a bit of a scare in a hospital (not one of the main ones so won’t out here) and we went and got private scans through ultrasound direct and would recommend a billion percent. Honestly even on a basic level I wouldn’t have had piece of mind without them.

I'm in the southern trust and wasn't offered any testing here. I'm only 32 though so I decided I couldn't justify the cost of nipt privately so I don't have any recommendations. Ultrasound direct have been great for scans though.

I'm Northern Trust and asked for the Harmony test which was £295... cheaper than going private. Consultant or midwife can also do quad test and it is £28 as far as I know but not just as accurate.
