This is really just so people might be able to help myth bust for me.
I’ve grown up to believe that it’s essential to have a kid once you’ve got your own house (mortgage) but me and my husband who rent together would love to have children in the near future but we know we won’t be able to afford a mortgage for a good 4-5 years.
Is renting a place still going to be a stable environment for a child to grow up in until I reach my mortgage deposit goals??

Plenty of people rent and have children.....

It’s not the 1990s - rent is now the more/only affordable option for many, many people. If you can afford your rent and outgoings (whilst on maternity pay of £170 a week) then it doesn’t matter.

Millions of people do it, obviously. But saving is harder once you’ve got kids to pay for, especially if you have to pay for childcare.

We rent and have children. We don't have enough deposit for a house yet. It will be awhile before we save up enough to have our own home. Of course the worry is there, that the LL will sell up but we have no option. Been where we are for 5 years now
