Anyone got thrush from progesterone pessaries?

I have been on 200mg progesterone pessaries for 2 weeks for a short cervix. I feel like I have the classical thrush synonyms, A LOT of milky/yellow discharge, itchy, swollen.
Wondering if this is a known thing?

I've been on 400mg for the last two weeks due to a short cervix as well. I've just tested positive for an infection, also had yellow discharge and slight cramps. Apparently it's quite common to pick up thrush. Did you get a stitch also?

Switch to inserting back passage.
I take for shortening cervix too and had nothing but issues when inserting vaginally when first started taking them.
They made my cervix so irritant and was so uncomfortable constant thrush symptoms and they said with sensitive cervix it can be more harm than good and causing infection.
I switched to rectally and after about 3 weeks the irritation calmed down and I'm so pleased I switched as it's absorbed the same way but no irritation and no mess or leakage x

No stitch. I'm on 200mg pessaries. Having weekly cervical scans and no change in cervical length so far. I tested positive for thrush and have been advised to use the thrush and progesterone pessary together vaginally

@SolaceSoul I would maybe ask to switch to rectally? I'm taking mine rectally now to avoid infection. I was told it has the same effect x

@SolaceSoul hi, sorry I know yours is a bit of an old post - I was just reading about the progesterone and your post popped up. I am also on it and have been for about 9 weeks now. (I also had a yeast infection last week and was told to insert the 2 pessaries together). I saw you were having weekly cervical scans. Do you mind me asking where you are having these done…. Is it just routinely on NHS? And did you request weekly or they advised it? Thanks

I was advised to have weekly scans until 24 weeks at the premature surveillance clinic. This was under the NHS. As my cervix didn't change in size, I was discharged. Currently 37+1. Stopped progesterone at 34+0 and no sign of baby yet!

Yes! I was on the pessaries due to 3 consecutive losses and the week before I was due to stop them I got thrush! Very uncomfortable and made me want to stop the pessaries but I persisted for the last week!

@SolaceSoul thanks for answering. That’s interesting. I’ve been having 2 weekly scans since 16 weeks and cervix has never been above 3cm. My last scan was at 20 weeks and borderline for needing a cerclage so I asked the consultant for weekly scans but she refused saying guidelines are 2 weekly. I even asked if it was because NHS aren’t allowed to do more often because of costs, but she just kept saying that guidelines are 2 weekly so if she does weekly and I get an infection or something that she could get in big trouble. I don’t know, It just seems such a long time to wait knowing cervix is quite short and I’d be much happier with weekly!
great news you’ve made it to 37 weeks. Good luck with it!
