Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this. I had my 12 week scan this week, it was an IVF pregnancy and we'd seen the heartbeat at 7 weeks. Unfortunately all they could find was the gestational sac, no embryo, yolk sac or placenta.
I've to go back for a second scan on Tuesday as the sac is still 25mm and I've been told to keep talking all my medication until then including 2 lubion a day. I suspect the lubion is what's keeping me from bleeding but not sure.
Just wondered how soon it's likely to start when I stop the medication and if it doesn't whether medical or surgical would be best option. I'm not sure what they'll offer but I want to be prepared. Seeing as there's no baby in there now, I just want it over.
Sorry for anyone who's had to experience this.

Really sorry you are going through this, it’s really tough and I hope you have support around you.
I also went through IVF and experienced a loss at 7 weeks. I’m not sure about what will happen when you stop medication - I think this can be different for different people.
My clinic referred me to the hospital who offered either medication or surgery. I opted for D&C, personally I didn’t want to take the medication and see what came out. D&C wasn’t an easy option either as you are put under but I know for me personally it was the ‘best’ option.
Again, I’m sorry you’re going through this, sending hugs and solidarity.

I'm so sorry you're going through this OP. I had the same with my first IVF pregnancy but found out earlier than you - we were told at the 7 week scan that the pregnancy was not progressing as it should and that I should expect to miscarry. I was on 1200mg of progesterone a day. We were back and forth to the EPU for 3 weeks before the pregnancy stopped. I chose surgical management and the day of my surgery, when I would have been about 11 weeks, I started to cramp and spot. So I think it would have happened naturally around then.

Surgery was absolutely the best option for me. I was looked after so well in hospital and home the same day, with minimal pain and bleeding afterwards. I know it's daunting though. I had a medical termination at home years ago and personally I didn't want to go through that again. It was a very physical experience. But I think some women find the closure that gives them helpful. It's such a personal choice.

Sending love.

Thanks both.

This is what I was afraid of, I really want it over with as soon as possible. Not sure what options they'll give me on Tuesday but I can't bear the thought of just waiting weeks. After failed cycles it takes about a week for my period to come so I assume it'll be at least that. Surgical would be my preference but not sure how long that'd take to arrange. Thanks x

I think they can usually arrange surgery in a matter of days. Once I decided that's what I wanted it happened very quickly, and that was in the middle of doctor strikes.

Take care OP ❤️

Same as countrypunk, it was very quick once I had decided. I think I had to have a scan at the hospital and then was booked in the next day or so for the surgery.
It really is hard so please take care of yourself as best you can xx
