ECV to turn breech baby, experiences please

Hello
My baby has flipped over in to breech position, we have regular growth scans due to other complications but they've said if he doesn't flip over by the next one then they will book me in for a scan & ECV at 37 weeks (and if it is unsuccessful then they'll book me a section).

Could people please share their experiences of having an ECV to turn breech babies? I don't know anyone else that tried this, everyone else just went straight for the section. Did it work for you? The consultant says the success rate is around 50%.

I have a few weeks of birth ball jiggling to get him to turn again but need to know if I'd like to go ahead with this by two weeks time, in case.

Thank you

I had a ECV for baby 2. It worked first time for us and wasn't unpleasant, although I had a bruise from the consultant's thumb. It depends on how often the individual doctor performs them - my hospital gave them all to the one consultant so every Monday she did them. I had the one consultant and a nurse in with her, plus my husband.

I had to take in a hospital bag in case they needed to do a cesaerean. I was monitored both before the ECV and for half an hour after it to check that baby was ok.

I'd heard horror stories from the internet before I went but it was fine.

Had ECV with all 3 of my babies - and - shock, horror! - this was when scans were not used as standard. All went well. No problems.

@Puffinsandcreeks try the polar bear yoga move (variation of "on hands and knees") to get baby shifted in the meantime.

I've been doing the thing for the spinning babies website where you kneel on a sofa then rest your fore arms on the floor, will research other things too

I had an ecv at 38 weeks. It was uncomfortable and the consultant had a good success rate. But she couldn't get baby moved it was wedged. During the section we found her head was wedged in my ribs and the cord was round her neck. Second pregnancy had ELCS and she was unstable lie and entangled in her cord.

Loved my CS both times

I had ECV at (I think) 36-37 weeks. It was a little uncomfortable but baby flipped quite quickly. It felt very safe, calm, well monitored and well controlled. Risks were explained, and it was done in the labour ward in case of complications. Gave birth on midwife led unit a few weeks later. I think I had a muscle relaxing injection, but my overriding memory was the consultant pulling out a 1litre bottle of Tesco olive oil and slathering it all over my bump!
