Hi ladies I’m 19 weeks pregnant and panicking a little bit don’t know if I’m being silly, I suffer with OCD and obsess over even the little things, I ate tinned/canned spaghetti for dinner but instead of microwaving it until piping hot like your supposed to I simply put in in for like a minute/ minuet and a half so it was just lukewarm and ready to eat straight away as I was starving and had not eaten all day and now I’m panicking just need some reassurance! Xx

OP it won’t be an issue. A lot of pregnant people also have older kids and toddlers and have eaten things luke warm all of the time! It’s also highly processed. Most tinned food can be safely eaten cold (it just doesn’t taste as nice/changes the texture).

Hope you’re doing ok x

You and your baby will be absolutely fine. It may help to get in contact with your maternity mental health team, they often have people who can help you deal with high levels of anxiety before they get out of hand

It will be fine. What are you worrying about, assuming it's a tomato based sauce?

You need to speak to your HCP about your anxiety.

You're not being silly - pregnancy is such an anxious time! I have OCD too and although I don't have food as one of my main focuses I can totally empathise with the horrible, churning worry.

I think it's highly likely that you have absolutely nothing to worry about. :) As the other poster said, pregnant people probably eat yucky, lukewarm stuff all the time while they're rushing around and it's not a risky food in the first place. :)

If you start feeling poorly (which I bet you won't!) you can always give triage, 111 a call.
I had some nasty diarrhea and tightenings while I was staying with a friend around 18 weeks and ending up popping into a&e (wasn't near my local triage). They ran a blood test to check for infection markers, all was well and felt better shortly after.

Easier said than done by try not to worry and maybe think of something to do that can divert your mind for a bit. :)xxx

thankyou for the reassurance ladies I feel much better now! It was tomato based I was just panicked as I know your supposed to heat things until piping hot , I got in contact with the midwife station too as my OCD got the better off me she assured me it was absolutely fine and only really stake and things that need to be cooked properly and piping hot, Thankyou all for the advice and reassurance it’s much appreciated and I feel a lot better and can relax now😊Xx

Why not read up on food hygiene and how to store and prepare food correctly?

I think that would give you some peace of mind and stop you worrying unnecessarily about food poisoning.

As pointed out- tinned spaghetti will not harm you at any temperature.

I appreciate OCD and health anxiety isn’t particularly rational!
However, Being a bit more informed should help, and stand you in good stead for when your baby starts weaning too.
