How to I make DH see that I'm not being unreasonable when I say I do't want us all to go on a 12hr flight to somewhere with an 8 hour time difference when new baby is 6 weeks old and DD is 20 months? (baby due later this year).
Location: a city - and he proposes a 2 week holiday there (which to me means padding the streets for several hours a day).

Passport is another issue. Agree it might take long.

And by all means, dont let the rush to get a birthcertificate so that you can make the passport application, impact on the name you chose, just because you are in hurry!

Even babies needs to have their eyes open, and not smile for pictures. I suggest you let your dh take the baby to the photographers, and wish him luck.

And of course, he will deal with the passport application.

The more I think about this, the more I think your dh is a thick headed selfabsorbed twunt for forcing this through.

What if your health is not good enough for travel? Assuming of course that the baby is also perfectly fit and healthy.

Suggest he takes 20 mo himself so your family is represented and then have a family holiday together later on. When dh and i got married (in Kent) his younger brother (in Scotland) came down with his 2 yo but left his wife and 4 week old at home which we were quite happy about! I'd feel quite bad to think that someone so freshly 'hatched' had undertaken such a long journey.
