When did you feel first baby's movements with anterior placenta?

I'm nearly 19 weeks and I don't think I've felt anything yet. This is my first baby and I have an anterior placenta so I've been told not to expect to until 20-22 weeks.

Sometimes I've felt little bubbles but 9/10 it leads to wind! Other times I've had rumbling but just put it down to digestion.

Is it the sort of feeling that when it happens you definitely know?

Third pregnancy here with an anterior placenta and nothing yet (17 weeks). Very common to not feel anything until 24 weeks.

I had a posterior placenta with my other two boys and had felt movement by now. Trying not to compare 🙈

I didn’t feel any proper ‘kicks’ until 25 weeks with my anterior placenta. After that I felt her very regularly.

Im sure it was around 26 weeks for me! Partner only ever felt her move once too probably around the 34 week mark!

Hi ladies,

Can I ask how you know whether you have an anterior or posterior placenta please? Was this something you were made aware of at the 12 week scan?
I'm 16 weeks and have no idea where my placenta is 😂

Strawberry06 · 11/09/2023 09:48

@undercoverhero74 you usually find out at your 20 week scan. I had a private scan at 15 weeks and they told me then which is the only reason I know currently!

@undercoverhero74 At our 12 week scan the sonographer thought it was anterior then it was confirmed at our private scan (16 weeks)

22 weeks for me x

undercoverhero74 · 11/09/2023 10:36

@mumtotwox @Strawberry06 thanks for that! I have a private scan booked for Saturday so will ask then.
In answer to your original question.. during my 1st pregnancy I was around 21 weeks before I felt definite movement 😊

I’ve had an anterior placenta with all 4 of mine, my first and second I was about 20/21 weeks. Third was around 23 weeks and my 4th I didn’t feel a thing till 25/26 weeks.

23 weeks. And even then I really struggled through pregnancy as I could go days without feeling her and had to constantly go in to be monitored. She was always kicking away I just couldn't feel it.

ATrulyMagnificentBroom · 11/09/2023 11:07

It was around 21-22 weeks for me. I didn't instantly know the first time that that's what it was, but it did feel a little different to the indigestion. It took feeling it three or four times to be sure.

I felt movements from about 17 weeks (but in that it's my second so I knew what to look out for) - for me, it always feels like trapped wind! I struggled early on with an anterior placenta as I had to trust myself to monitor movements and I never trusted my own judgment.

I didn't feel proper kicks/movements until mid-20s I'd say. Now (36 weeks) she's going to be an MMA fighter I think...

passthesugar · 11/09/2023 12:57

Not until the third trimester I think

allgoodthings84 · 11/09/2023 13:10

With my first it was after the 20 weeks scan. I can’t remember exactly how many weeks as it was over 8 years ago but it was definitely after the 20 weeks scan

with my second it was also anterior and I felt definite movements around 18.5 weeks but only a couple short bursts a day it wasn’t regular until weeks later and I went in 3 times before she was born to be monitored (after 28 weeks) as she would often go still for long periods and worry me throughout the pregnancy
