Hi all.

Im having a terrible time, really feeling sorry for myself.

I found out a few days ago that I'm pregnant. I haven't missed a period yet, would be due in 2 days but im experiencing the most awful nausea and migraine. My last pregnancy (son is 3.5 years old) I also had horrific migraines and nausea but not this early on. I've barely been able to move today.

Has anybody else experienced this, this early on? Any tips on how to tackle it? I did take paracetamol earlier but it had absolutely zero effect.

TIA.

My consultant said she would have recommended I had continued with my usual migraine meds if she had known. MW hadn't known my headache history.. No known stats negatively affecting the baby she said.. Ask your GP not MW about them op.

Hi, thanks for reply.

I started getting hormonal migraines (one either before or after period) about 4 years ago. I was prescribed a migraine tablet by the hospital but never actually took one because I lost them! Normally it's fine because it's just once a month but in pregnancy it's daily for months.

Im also miserable about the nausea, I don't tend to get it with migraine. I'm pretty sure it's 'morning sickness'.

Do you think it would be worth asking for something to be prescribed, is there anything that's safe to take? I tend to be scared of even taking paracetamol or having a cup of tea due to the caffeine.

Hi,
I get migraines and previously have been prescribed ‘blocker’ tablets but due to them being on prescription I haven’t bothered to get them again.

my cure for migraine both during pregnancy and before is anadin extra (you need to check with your MW as they contain aspirin) these tend to work far better for me than normal paracetamol that has 0 effect. Eating something sugary and not fatty like haribo and then napping. When I wake up it’s normally gone. It may not work for you but I’ve been managing them
like this for a few years now even if it means I have to lock my office door at work and nap on the floor!

Not sure if it will help you but have you tried the 4head stick before? May take the edge off it perhaps? Also Indian head massage as it works pressure points which helped me massively during the few weeks of migraine like headaches in first trimester. Paracetamol didn’t help mine either but I took them regularly to take the edge off. Perhaps speak to GP
