I'm 27 weeks and 5 days today and had to have a growth scan and doppler to check baby due to having previously small babies.

I had the scan she looked great and her heart was beating as it should and shes in breech position (for now) so when we went in to see the consultant I thought that maybe everything was ok with her however he said that my placenta blood flow is fast and that the baby is on the 5th percentile. Although he did say that she is getting enough at the minute, the end diastolic is present and I am booked in for 2 dopplers a week and a growth scan every other week.

He said to keep an eye on her movements but now I'm worried that her movements will stop in the night ,I won't notice and something would have happened to her. I'm just worried now constantly incase something happens.

Hi OP. They just want you to keep an eye on movements in case they decrease so that you can go in. Some people leave it 2 or 3 days with reduced movements before they consider going in to triage and that is very different to 12 - 24 hours. They're keeping a close eye on you and baby with weekly scans and two dopplers a week. They can't keep much of a closer eye on you really, so I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry.

If it helps, I was told my baby was 9th centile at my 28 week scan, and 2 weeks later told he was on the 21st.

Hi, I hope you’re ok. I just wanted to echo the other poster. The scans can be really inaccurate 20% off etc. my doctor said wait to have 3 before they really know how things are. In my case, I was found around 30 weeks to have a baby less than 5% of size. Like you, my last was also small, but I’m 5’1. My baby was breach, 1-2% of size when born, but had good blood flow and we had to go for heart beat monitoring multiple times a week and measurements. There are so many benefits to keeping them in until 37 weeks for feeding and breathing, so the doctors really pushed for that cutoff, but wouldn’t let me go past that. Just follow the doctors advice as much as possible and go to all your appointments. That’s the best advice I can give, and was given. In my case, I had a c section at 37 weeks as IUGR babies can get very stressed in natural birth, but had a wonderfully healthy little boy, who escaped the NICU by 1oz 😂. I felt a bit helpless in the last bit of pregnancy, so I did very light exercise, a lot of R&R which isn’t easy with a toddler, and ate as much protein as I could cram in me. My husband joked that I ate like the rock towards the end. But something worked. Hopefully your baby is just mini like your last ones, the measurements were a bit off, and there’s no problems. Good luck mama x

I also got a fetal Doppler for at home checks/my sanity. I know it’s not really recommended, but frankly my baby was also positioned where I felt nothing at all, so it was a bad situation all round. Im hoping yours is positioned so you at least feel kicks for your own sanity. Listen to your body, and if you’re worried, go in for checks. Rather safe than sorry.
