Feel pregnant after sterilisation - neg tests?!

Hi, this may be long and you’ll have to forgive the lack of up to date abbreviations, but I’m having a minor (major!) panic and just need some advice. I have 4 kids, the youngest is almost 10. During the c-section with her I was sterilised.

However, the past 5 months I’ve had either no period or a very light period each month, which is very unusual for me. I’ve also put a fair bit of weight on my stomach. Not fat, my tummy is hard but much bigger than usual. I’m exhausted all the time and very emotional. I’m almost 40 so put all this down to perimenopause as both my mum and grandma started in their mid 30’s.

Anyway, last Monday I realised I was feeling ‘movements’ in my stomach. I put it down to wind but it feels VERY much like those first proper kicks. You can also see it from the outside, it’s sometimes upper tummy, sometimes lower, it’s a very obvious ‘poke’ outwards, and it ‘responds’ (if I push my tummy, the movement happens, not always but sometimes). I thought it was some weird spasm or, as I said, wind. But it’s now been 11 days and it’s still happening on and off all day.

I’ve done 3 tests (an out of date cheapie i found in my knicker drawer, and 2 clear blue which is all I could get locally) and all 3 were negative.

I know this all sounds a bit crazy, but I genuinely don’t know what to do! I don’t want to make an idiot of myself by going to the GP, because I’ve had a few periods and tests are negative, but equally what else could be causing it?! Please be gentle, I’m having a rough time atm. I lost my mum last month and my sister in January so I feel like I’ve no one to talk to (don’t want to worry my husband yet as my last pregnancy was very difficult and I know he’ll panic), and I already feel stupid about all this ☹️ anyone ever experienced similar??

I would go to the gp, you're not an idiot for going, don't worry. If you're not pg then the twitching abdomen could mean you're ill (I can't speculate with what) so I would get seen.

Definitely go to the GP. There's something going on that you're concerned about so it's not a waste of their time. There are all sorts of things that could cause similar symptoms but the only way to find out is to get properly checked over.

Hope everything is okay

I'd speak to gp in your shoes.
I've had 6 cs [not a stealth boost] and even after the menopause and 20 years since last baby I experience this 'kicking' sensation from time to time and I feel pregnant although it is impossible. I was told by gp they are phantom kicks probably due to gastrointestinal activity and were nothing to worry about. It also can happen when healing from cs. apparently it is common in women who have had cs even years later.

I agree with previous posters, talk to a GP.

You write: "I don’t want to make an idiot of myself by going to the GP", but I don't think you would make an idiot out of yourself by talking to a doctor when you have had unusual sensations in your stomach for 11 days. It could be something, or nothing, but you won't know until you've been examined.

I agree about going to GP. I had phantom kicks at one point. It could be that or something else.
