Advoce please ... Irregular periods and late ovulation

But of a long one so I'll try to be succinct. I've always had major irregular periods that are extremely painful. When TTC DS, I had to use OPKs as cycles can range from 19 days to 35 days.
Tried multiple contraception, each causing some kind of reaction. Was referred to gynaecologist after having DS and procedure went wrong. GP referred me for bloods and was told I had PCOS, then 2nd GP said no as one blood was too high and other one was just in normal range, though still high.

Decided we would TYC so had IUD removed early August and then had a bleed shortly after (though was much shorter and lighter than normal so wasnt sure if this was a breakthrough bleed).

Been tracking since then as felt like I was ovulating but nothing. Finally ready to give up when I got a positive OPK on day 23?! Everything I've read has said thay after day 21, it'll be much harder TTC.

Has anyone had any experience with IUD removal and late ovulation or just late ovulation in general?

Looking for some reassurance I guess x

I had mine removed 10th January and ovulated 3rd feb. Now 33 weeks pregnant. It takes a while for your cycles to regulate after IUD removal so late ovulation is to be expected until your cycles settle down.

@PickledScrump thank you so much, that's really reassuring. There is so much conflicting info on Google you just end up down a hole!
Hope you're keeping well!!

@FirstTimeMumma2021 i am just not enjoying the heat. I had an IUD before having my second and waited for my cycles to regulate which took around 6 months. We started trying 6 months after having it out and got pregnant that first month. So fertility has been unaffected. Some people recommend waiting for regular cycles just because it makes dating easier, but if you are tracking ovulation you’ll have a rough idea of how far along you are anyway.

I'm currently pregnant and the cycle I conceived I didn't get my positive OPK until day 26, ovulated day 28 I think!

I also have a dubious PCOS diagnosis after coming off hormonal birth control, my periods took a year to return in any form and then were just totally irregular and long cycles. But clearly didn't make conception impossible in my case, just required careful tracking and patience waiting for that positive opk. Good luck!

I have PCOS, cycles range from 35-60days and with my current pregnancy, i ovulated on day 29!! I think if your cycles are irregular then it isnt necessarily late ovulation thats the issue as you might still have a 14day luteal phase, but that its difficult to pinpoint ovulation. Having said that, ive also heard that it can take a while for things to settle down after coming off hormonal birth control, so i agree with pp that it might just be as your cycles come back to normal.

Hiya just wanted to give some hope I have pcos & ovulated naturally on cycle day 23 & currently 38 weeks pregnant.

Hi OP I've always had long cycles but apparently don't have PCOS. I'm currently nearly 38 weeks pregnant and I think I ovulated about day 30 of my cycle! And pregnancy has all been super straightforward

I have pcos and my cycles are anywhere between 30 to 60 days. It doesn’t matter when you ovulate, as long as you ARE ovulating you have the chance to conceive! It just means that with longer cycles, you get less opportunities to conceive in a year than someone with a 28 day regular cycle because ovulation comes round less frequently. I used Concieve Plus Ovulation Support tablets which helped me ovulate on day 21 each month (instead of day 45 or more!) and got pregnant on 2nd month luckily
