Hi everyone,
24w+2
This morning I had an urgent trip to triage because I had a blood smear when I wiped and felt like baby hadn't moved as much, midwives were brilliant, checked babies heart rate which she was happy with, had a cervix examination with swab. They seemed happy with how it looked and sent us home, being told to keep an eye on things and take it easy.

My problem is now I have totally lost my confidence about my pregnancy and scared it's all going to go wrong.. does anybody have any advice on how to stop my mind thinking the worst now..

Thank you x

That must have been extremely worrying for you, I'm sorry you are going through this.

Try and trust in the midwives / doctors in triage, they definitely would not have sent you home if they were too worried. I had a very big bleed with my first pregnancy and everything was all fine.

Just be sure to go straight back in if anything changes.

Hope everything goes okay for you ❤️

How worrying for you OP, sorry you're experiencing this.

I've had bleeds in every pregnancy I've had. 2 did end in early miscarriage, one was when I was 16 weeks pregnant with DS (he was born healthy at 41 weeks), and I've just had one a couple of weeks ago at 14 weeks pregnant with baby #2 - private scan confirmed baby is all okay yesterday. So not as far into pregnancy as you, but I can tell you that sometimes it happens and we don't know why but it can all turn out okay.

It's good that you can now feel baby's movements as an extra line of reassurance, if you feel like these aren't as frequent again don't be afraid to go back and get checked again. I went in about 3-4 times with DS. As PP has said, try to trust in the Drs and midwives, but if you feel something isn't right, don't be afraid to push for further tests / help / investigations.

In terms of the anxiety that comes with this sort of situation, I found it very difficult to handle when pregnant with DS. I sought help from my midwife and self referred for CBT through Healthy Minds. It was invaluable to me and I still continue to use a lot of what I learned when facing anxiety-inducing situations now.

Ultimately don't sit on how you're feeling, tell people and if you struggle to cope, seek help. I hope everything goes okay for you moving forwards ❤️
