16 weeks - trying not to worry

So, we all do it right….as soon as we wipe after the toilet check and pray that there’s no blood?

I told my boss at work last week, and so we got onto talking about transition plans. But I’m still so worried something will go wrong (first baby and I have uterus didelphys) that I just don’t want to plan for anything, it’s hard to let go of the worry.

Does it go away? Did you have it?

I honestly don’t check for blood now (19 weeks) but I did earlier on in the pregnancy.

This will be my second DS but I still can’t visualise having a baby, it seems a very distant concept! I find it very difficult to plan for it and believe it’s actually going to happen.

With both my pregnancies I had a 16 week private scan to find out the sex. That made it feel a bit more real to me.

The scan was also really useful with my first because I found out my placenta was at the front (anterior) which means that you feel movements much later on. So that meant I wasn’t too worried when I wasn’t feeling anything. I didn’t feel kicks with my first until 22 weeks.

I found the wait between 12 and 20 weeks a bit disconcerting… you have the excitement of the 12 weeks scan and then you have all this time just kind of waiting.

Once you feel movements it’s much more reassuring because you’re getting daily reminders that there’s a little someone in there.
