NHS also recommends vitamin D

Cowlover89 · 31/08/2023 10:43

Pregnacare has all the vitamins you need

Hi
I went to Holland and Barrett and spoke to one of the people who work there, I’ve spoken to him many times before about various bits and bobs so I know he’s very knowledgeable. He gave me pregnacare and said it’s the only thing you should take because you also have to avoid certain things in pregnancy.

Thank you

Pregnacare it is then! 😊

Its okay 😊

I found pregnacare made me feel sick. I use Proceive. It changes per trimester to keep up with adjusting requirements.

My doc (fertility doctor) also recommended an additional 2000ug of Vit D on top of pregnacare

PinkRoses1245 · 31/08/2023 19:49

I just took Boots folic acid and Vitabiotics Vitamin D. It’s much more beneficial to get your vitamins through diet than supplements, unless there’s something medically recommended

Laneymoo · 31/08/2023 19:50

Just folic acid with added vitamin D. Have heard Pregnacare has made women feel sick!

Didn't make me sick!

I never had to take extra. Got told pregnacare was enough.

This is true, but as many of us struggle to eat well in 1st trimester there's no harm in back-up

Good for you!

I researched quite a bit and I had taken pregnacare with the last two pregnancies, but the last one I ended up low in iron despite them having iron in. This time I have used proceive, apparently they are absorbed better than pregnacare. My iron levels have been perfect each time so far

HelterSkelter224 · 31/08/2023 20:50

"I never had to take extra. Got told pregnacare was enough."

I mean that's good for you but it was a recommendation from a doctor specialising in fertility so 🤷‍♀️

STSJ90 · 31/08/2023 21:02

To be fair everything was making me puke 😂

I think with pregnacare you can get different ones with extra things in. The one I had you took 3 tablets 2 green ones and an omega. To be honest I’ve not been consistent with them in my second trimester I might give proceieve a go.

everyone is different and this isn’t the place to preach to others just to share experiences and give advice. Let’s keep it nice ladies! We’re all in the same boat :)

em3392 · 01/09/2023 07:57

Pregnacare made my nausea worse. You only really need folic acid and vit D, the rest you can get from a healthy varied diet.

wtawtaw · 01/09/2023 20:02

I take Proceive, they have specific vitamins for each trimester which I like as requirements change I guess as time goes on! Also thinking of taking vegan omega 3 (I'm concerned about toxicity of fish oil) but haven't started them yet!

DNKM · 05/02/2025 22:18

I am currently using EQUI as it has really good reviews on the Naturisimo website but can I tell a difference? I am not so sure. Few users here mentioned about Proceive and I decided I might give it a go as apparently according to users comments their Max formula is quite successful among ladies above 35 who are trying to conceive for a long time such as myself.

Goldpanther · 06/02/2025 09:58

As an alternative view... I saw a private nutritionist as I'd rather get everything through diet instead of supplements. Plus I tried pregnacare and for the week or so I took it I was horrendously sick, so it wasn't for me!

RDA for vitamin d is about 600iu, and a portion of salmon contains 1000iu, other foods with vitamin d are eggs etc.

Folate and folic acid is in green veg, lentils, citrus fruits, avocados etc.

I just had eggs with greens or avocado for breakfast everyday, and eggs with salmon twice a week.

DNKM · 06/02/2025 13:55

Some other women said the same as Goldpanther that Proceive made them really sick but on the other hand there are so many positive reviews out there too. I guess it depends on our individual physiological needs and state. I think I will try it and then write an update here. I do agree that diet is also super important.
