Help! 5+3 and I have covid

So like the title says, I found out yesterday I have covid- I feel rubbish, but not horrific. All guidance online seems old and says I should chat to midwives/gp, but being so early, I’m yet to have a midwife. Just wondering has anyone else had this and what did you do/ who did you see, if you have to see anyone?? :)

Hello! Not much help as I had covid a couple of weeks back at 30+ weeks, but didn't want to read and run.

I'd recommend ringing your GP/Early pregnancy unit if you're concerned. Hopefully it will blow over and you'll be fine, but if you begin to feel really poorly just contact either of those for advice. Good luck for a speedy recovery!

OP I’ve had Covid multiple times in multiple pregnancies. The advice re Covid GP and midwife relates to later in pregnancy, when they sometimes offer extra placental monitoring. But you are too early in Pregnancy for it to be relevant! All you can do is stay hydrated, rest and recover. Remember there are changes to the meds you can take (decongestants tend to be a no). Hope you feel a lot better soon x

I really wouldn’t worry, unless you feel very unwell. Loads of women will have Covid unknowingly throughout pregnancy, along with other common illnesses.

Awww amazing!!! Thankyou all! Very happy to sit and wait it out, just wanted to check that I wasn’t meant to be doing anything else!! 😂

I had covid when I was 8 weeks pregnant with my second baby and it knocked me sideways! I told my midwife I caught it who advised me to call the GP and they supplied me with an oximeter to check my levels everyday until it passed. I believe this is so they can check for any unusual oxygen levels that might be concerning for the placenta. As you're early I wouldn't be worried but I would let your midwife know x

Sorry just saw that as your 5 weeks you don't have a midwife yet but I'd just let them know that you've had it once you're assigned one :)

I had covid last year whilst pregnant and my midwife said they only worried if you were ill enough with it to be hospitalised. Just take it really easy for the next few days, lots of rest and fluids.

Remember you can take paracetamol, but not NSAIDs.
Hope you feel better soon and it isn't too rough

I had covid for the first time last summer whilst I was unknowingly in very early pregnancy. My pregnancy progressed uneventfully and my 4 month old baby is healthy. Taken some paracetamol if you’re having temperatures and take care of yourself generally - hope you’re feeling better soon!
