Hi! So myself and my partner usually do a weekend walk in the Lake District or wales, now I am pregnant I’m not sure whether to continue (obviously not too strenuously!) with the walks in regards to going through fields of sheep. Lol
Not sure if I’m being absolutely ridiculous or not but I know there’s risks with lambing season and coming into contact with lambs and sheep recently given birth- but is it a concern this time of year more generally? Obviously not going to risk it if it is a concern but equally I’m not petting them or anything so not really ‘close contact’?!

Im not an expert, but I wouldnt think being in the vicinity of lambs would pose any risk?

Usually those risks tend to exist if you are actively messing with the animals.
Like toxoplasmosis and cats... petting a cat isnt dangerous. Changing the litter tray without gloves could be (this is only valid for outdoor cats as well, indoor cats pose no risk).

Im sure you will be far enough away from the sheep and lambs on your walks, no? And not actually birthing the lambs?

You'll be fine.

Unless you're going around licking the sheep you'll be fine 😅(obviously don't eat the sheep poo either lol).

On a slightly more serious note, if you're going hiking etc it's always a good idea to thoroughly wash your hands when you get back, pregnant or not. So long as you've got an average level of hygiene I'm sure you'll be all good. Enjoy the fresh air!

You’ll be fine. Just keep walking boots separate and wash hands when you get back/before eating/after taking boots off. The highest risk of getting toxoplasmosis is actually from soil so doing things like gardening. Keeping up exercise during pregnancy can be very beneficial

I live next to a sheep farm. You’re fine - just don’t touch them 😄

Haha ok thank you all for the replies. I was sending myself crazy 😂 the more you google the deeper into the back hole you go don’t you! It said about being careful not to pick anything up via boots or touching fences etc and just made me think I’d be better off sat at home 😆

Sheep are fine, but keep your distance from cows with calves
