Higher BMI & anterior placenta.. anxiety

Hello, I’m currently 18w 4d pregnant and still haven’t felt any movements at all due to having a higher bmi (I’m very middle heavy) and an anterior placenta. I had a private scan around 16w 3d and everything was great but I’ve got such bad anxiety in the last week just overthinking that something is wrong because I’m aware I’m getting further along but still not feeling any movements. I have my 20w scan on the 6th so I’m counting down the hours for that just to see our wee baby again and hopefully get the news that everything is still going well but does anyone have any tips on how to ease my anxiety until then? Thank you 💞

I had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel any movements at all not even “flutterings” until I was around 24 or 25 weeks. I also had a high (just into the obese category iirc). It’s completely normal to not feel anything if the placenta is anterior - I remember being so scared at my 20 week scan (had nothing between 12 and 20 weeks). But it was all ok. All you can really do is try to relax and remember that not feeling anything at this stage is normal if your placenta is anterior.

I'm 21 weeks and have both high bmi and anterior and also didn't feel anything until after everyone else it seemed! And even now it's not consistent movement feeling at all! I was so scared about the 20 week scan but everything was fine. Pregnancy is such a strange time and it's so much easier to worry! But I have to keep listening to DH as he keeps saying that my body would tell me if something was wrong! Try and focus on the positive scans and that little bean was okay ❤️

I had an anterior placenta with first pregnancy & it was stressful.Hoping I don’t have it this time!Had many reduce movement episodes and was in and out of hospital.Rather be checked than something bad happen I figured. Was induced at 37+6 due to this.Midwife this time has said even if its anterior placenta again to still go & get monitored if movement is feels different.

I have no advice other than if something ever feels off just go in to be checked as it’s hard not being able to feel the baby especially as the weeks go by & you’re meant to feel more consistent pattern.

Hello,

I have a high bmi and anterior placenta. I first felt movements about 16 weeks. I started feeling more movements just before I was 22 weeks. I am now 26 weeks and feel movements everyday and I would say that’s only been the past 2/3 weeks that I have felt movements everyday. I know it’s hard but please try not to worry. If you are worried, call the maternity unit, they can check the heartbeat for you.

I’m a healthy BMI with an anterior placenta and still can’t feel much at 22 weeks, so don’t stress over your weight too much. I just get flutterings that come and go.

All was fine at the 20 week scan (I could feel literally nothing at that point!).

It’s so hard but honestly I’m sure everything will be fine.

It is completely normal to not feel any movements until much later with an anterior placenta (i was really disappointed when I found out I had one!) it gave me a lot of anxiety as some days I would feel flutters and days would go by without anything. I’m now nearly 32 weeks and movement become a lot strong from about 28/29 weeks so much so that I can see a foot sticking out from under my ribs!
