Daily Aspirin - do you have tablet form?

My GP has prescribed me dissolvable tabs in water and they are making me heave each time I take them (twice daily). Is tablet form for this available before I spend the next 3 hours of my life trying to get through to ask?

You should ask your pharmacist.

FizzyFlamingo · 23/08/2023 08:07

Yes there is. I take the tablet form because the dissolvable ones are grim and make me heave too. Like pp said speak to pharmacist to check you've got the right dosage etc. if you have it on prescription you might need to get them to change it on there. I have to take it in pregnancy but it's never been put on prescription so I just buy from boots/supermarket as it's cheap enough.

I was made to take dissolvable tablets but just necked them in a tiny bit of water. Literally about an inch of water. Couldn't do anymore. It was either that or I couldn't take them.
Have you tried that instead of a full glass?

AllAboardTootToot · 23/08/2023 08:12

Thanks both. Didnt even think about just buying it! Will talk to pharmacist when home at the weekend as no chance can I keep this up every day. Brushing teeth is a challenge enough to stop gagging let alone this :)

I was told either form is ok, as long as it's 75mg. My son is only here now because of them. I took the regular ones.

You don’t have to dissolve them, you can just take them like a normal tablet. But if you don’t like that as they can still ‘fizz’ a bit, they are available in a normal tablet

Sagittarius25 · 23/08/2023 08:40

I've always gotten mine from the pharmacist (because my hospital was unable to correctly communicate with GP to get prescription through) and I've only ever been able to get the dissolvable ones (75mg) from pharmacist. However I just take them like normal tablets with water. They don't sit there long enough to dissolve in your mouth or anything.

I take the small dissolvable 75 mg aspirin but just swallow them like I would a normal paracetamol tablet

AllAboardTootToot · 23/08/2023 08:43

Thanks ladies, will give the swallow method a go. (easy tiger!)

Yes! Mine are 75 mg tablets. Way easier!

Echoing this xx

I stopped dissolving them as soon as I figured they were small enough to swallow. Certainly easier than the manky flavoured water. I still had nausea/uneasy tummy though. I found it best to take just before bed so I'd fall asleep before the nausea had a chance to hit.

mumtotwox · 23/08/2023 09:32

My pharmacy were going to give me the dissolvable ones as that's all they had at the time but went back the next day and got the tablets 😊

Fairygoblin · 23/08/2023 09:34

The gastro coated tablets are only about £1 for a month's worth and you don't need to buy via the pharmacy, just off the shelf

seven201 · 23/08/2023 09:54

I can't do the dispersible ones either. Some supermarkets sell them if not from behind the counter at the pharmacy will.

Lightningrain · 23/08/2023 10:00

I just swallow them with water too after realising how long they take to dissolve.
