Hi,

im looking for a bit of advice. Today I found out I’d had my second missed miscarriage. The first one was 4 years ago. Turned up to my 12 week scan without any concerns, to be told my pregnancy hadn’t progressed past 6 weeks. This time around I was a paranoid mess so went for an early reassurance scan at 6+3 and there was strong heartbeat detected. Over the the last week I’ve had a bad feeling that something wasn’t right, so went for another scan today to be told the pregnancy ended around week 7. I’ve done everything I should be doing, taken all my vitamins and it has happened again. Has anyone else got experience of this and was any help offered to get the bottom of why it was happening? I’m going to have to have medical management again😕 any advice would be amazing! We’re devastated 💔

Hi there. I haven't read all the responses so apologies if I'm repeating here. Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss. I had my first loss 7 years ago, unplanned pregnancy (and didn't even know I was pregnant until I miscarried) so I didn't think too much of it. 3 years ago I had my 2nd loss at 9 weeks. In the last year I went on to have a further 2 losses. I expelled myself so didn't need medical management, which meant I could never get genetic testing. If you need medical management this time around maybe ask can the do some tests. However, the majority of first trimester losses are caused by chromosome abnormalities meaning there is nothing anyone could have done to cause or stop these losses. I know its not overly reassuring to hear that, but the reality is that there is probably no reason at all why you wouldn't go on to have a healthy baby. It's also important to remember that tge statistic of 1 in 5 pregnancies ending in loss applies to every new pregnancy and you have unfortunately had a bad roll of the dice twice now. I had lots of tests etc and nothing came back to show anything wrong. My DH hasn't had any tests as he already has a child. However, I am now 12 weeks pregnant (the furthest I have ever been) and i wad prescribed progesterone for this pregnancy (like another poster nothing suggested I was low in progesterone but so far it seems to be working).

@BudgetBuster thank you for your lovely reply and reassurance. Sounds like you have been through the mill as well. The biggest thing that concerned me was the length of time between losses. I’m really hopeful that things will be ok and I’m not giving up just like that. Such lovely news about your latest pregnancy and I hope it continues to go well for you ☺️ I think I need to get me some aspirin and progesterone!

So sorry you are going through this, it's so tough. I had 3 consecutive miscarriages, all tests came back normal. Went on to have 3 healthy babies after the third loss. It's really hard not knowing why these things happen. Sending lots of love and luck to you for the future

@cornishrabbit aww that’s such a lovely story though! I’m glad things worked out for you. As I’ve said before, if it hadn’t happened at the same gestation with both and happened the exact same way, I would be less worried but all I can think now is something is wrong with me. My partner is super supportive and has said we will do whatever it takes to find out what is going wrong and do everything we can to fix it. I’m hopeful for the future ☺️
