20 week scan NF

Hi there, I'm wondering what your babies NF thicknesses were at 20 weeks? I'm 19 to 20 weeks and babies Nuchal fold measured at 4.5mm. Next to that note it said "Max", is this a bad reading? I was curious to find answers as I thought this was still within the normal range but on the upper end of normal, according to Google an NF under 6mm at 20 to 24 weeks is within the normal range but if that's true then why would it have read "max" next to the scan info from the scan. I'm just so confused! I've done the serum screening that came back promising but this NF just bugs me. At the 13/14 week scan the NF was 2.8mm. Please let me know of you have personal experiences similar to this as I know the thicker it is the more likely there will be some kind of complication, I really hope everything is okay but I appreciate honesty more than anything. Thanks:)

The nuchal fold measurement is only important up until 14 weeks, that’s why the screenings for DS are done at your 12 week scan. Don’t stress about it now. If there was anything of concern it would have been mentioned to you then and there at the scan.

Hello, thanks for your response. The 13/14 week scan was also showing the same at 2.8mm so pretty much on the borderline of the upper percentiles. If it was measuring slightly lower I guess this would have helped for my anxiety. These kind of results aren't exactly reassuring that's why I'm hoping to get some kind of info on here. I guess what's really bugging me most is why it said the NF measurement was MAX at 4.5mm when online it repeatedly states under 6mm is within the normal range. I'm just confused and would like some clarity so I can relax a bit.

Could it simply mean that was the highest reading at the deepest point? I'm not a sonographer so not sure how it works but I remember them taking lots of measurements during scans perhaps that was the 'max' measurement they got out of a few? If you're worried give your midwife a call or ask at next appointment. I'm sure if there was an issue it would have been raised

Thank you, I did send her a text for another scan form as this last scan we couldn't see the whole of babies heart as she had her hand over it in the womb, we couldnt see her facial profile either due to the position baby was facing, but no reply to my text, not sure why she doesn't reply but I have an appointment with her in a couple weeks time so hopefully she has good news for us then and I can get another scan done for reassurance.
