As a multiple section mum i have always wanted 4 kids and want for another just increases but im worried im too old and will put my body at too much risk (this is my anxiety going into overdrive) age factor and 4th section makes me feel like im pushing limits and putting myself at huge risks? Am I too old?

I don’t think it is. I am 35 and will be 36 when I am due and I plan on trying for another baby after this one. Women are having babies well into their 40’s now.

Not too old at all! I'm 34 nearly 35 and TTC no1.

AllAboardTootToot · 17/08/2023 09:59

I’m 38 and pregnant for the first time. I don’t think 36 is too old, no.

Nevermay · 17/08/2023 10:00

well, realistically, you know perfectly well, it might go ok, but it is more of a risk than younger pregnancies, and it doesn't matter how many people answer you and what they say, that won't change.

SunRainStorm · 17/08/2023 10:01

Absolutely not too old.

But if your body has been through enough already then that's the issue, not your age.

Three c sections and pregnancies is a lot. Did you recover well? Are you a healthy weight? Are you fit? Do you have any muscular/skeletal issues? Any health concerns?

Look at the whole picture, not just your age.

Peony654 · 17/08/2023 10:01

You know the risks, you don't need others to tell you. As I'm sure you also know, risk of a child with a disability does also increase, so it's just deciding how you would manage if that did happen.

I'm trying to conceive at 27 but my partner is 40 this year, we've been trying for nearly a year with 2 MC

Olika · 17/08/2023 10:12

As you have already had multiple sections I would have a chat with a GP from safety point of view. Age isn't an issue.

Last birth(cs) was 9 years ago so healing wise I believe that's plenty of time to have healed all 3 were uncomplicated cs and I wasn't advised not to have anymore or at my last gyneo exam. I am a good weight and very fit with no known health issue's. So on paper a good candidate to do it again but my anxiety is my biggest hurdle I read on on blood clots or pp hemeorage before I'm even trying 🙃

My friend is just about to have her first at 40 and has had no issues. She is slim and fit if I'm honest so that may have helped.

I had my son at 36 and certainly wasn't that slim or fit.

Olika · 17/08/2023 10:49

I had mine at 41 and had a straightforward pregnancy. I did end up in ECS though as induction didn't work.

cheezncrackers · 17/08/2023 10:51

The issue here isn't your age - it's that you've had multiple c-sections already. If you are worried about the risks related to this and an additional pregnancy please go and talk to an obstetrician.

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 17/08/2023 10:57

You're healed, healthy and fit so I wouldn't be put off by age. Have a chat with your GP or OBGYN if you're concerned about the multiple sections? Tbh I know someone who have had 4 (and much closer together than yours) with no worries.

I had my first at 37, no issues and am pregnant with twins now, I'll be 40 when they're here. I feel great (so far 😆).

Awe hope it continues. I recently visited my ob for my smear and general well women. I mentioned wanting one more and she said there's no way to tell how much scarring etc someone has but did a us etc and said she can see no obvious reason to tell me it would be unsafe to go ahead. And the Dr from my previous section didn't have anything noted thin uterus etc so it doesn't seem theres an obvious reason not to try again but my anxiety is the hurdle

Hi @Hzky3
You're not too old hun, i had my first baby at 41 years old xx

The issue is the C sections - not your age.

Although many, many women have multiple sections. I’m on a C section group and there’s women on their 5th and 6th! Although obviously the risks increase each time.

I have 2 children and am pregnant with number 3. I’ve been a mum since I was 24, ended up with secondary infertility. I’m 38, and had to have IVF for this baby. I had full genetic testing to ensure my embryos were healthy (6 out of 10 were) I have friends in the IVF world in their late 20’s who don’t get as many healthy as I do; so age definitely doesn’t doom you.

I also opted for the Panorama NIPT test for extra peace of mind - It tests for microdeletions as well as all the usual chromosomal abnormalities. Apparently she’s perfectly healthy and well.

One thing I did to improve egg quality was to take Ubiquinol for 4 months prior to egg collection. It definitely helps.
