Diarrhoea in pregnancy

Sorry for the subject matter but has anyone suffered? I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and yesterday I had quite an explosive poo which was a bit sloppy towards the end. That's been followed by another two where I have essentially just pooed liquid! Had a bit of a sore tummy and some bubbling as well.

Prior to that I was a bit constipated and wasn't going properly but since I ate quite a lot of pizza and a lot of jacket potato halves with cheese I'm wondering if it's just the sheer volume of food that's upset me?

Just a bit worried. I can't really chat to my midwife as were abroad at the moment.

I did struggle with this especially from 12 weeks until about 23 weeks especially after eating anything especially greasy and would feel bloated and gross afterwards for ages. If you're having it non stop for a couple of days I would contact someone but as long as it's just the odd one here and there I wouldn't worry too much.

When I had diarrhea and sickness in my last pregnancy I called the midwives as it had been going on for about 4 days (was also about to be bridesmaid at my sister's wedding!) They said unfortunately there's nothing you can really take, immodium isn't approved in pregnancy but all they were concerned about is that I stay hydrated. I just ate bananas to try line my stomach abit and drank lots of water until it passed x

Sorry you are going through it, must be super rough! Stay strong.
So the first thing I'd suggest is to take some saline solution (Salt and sugar) or ORS immediately as it's important to replenish lost electrolytes. Plus, you may want to discuss some OTC medication for diarrhea with your doc and keep it on you always for future, especially if you're travelling. And I'd suggest steering clear of pizza and the likes because these foods can cause digestive irritability. Plus, if you eat soft cheese during pregnancy, it can be harmful and cause bacterial infections or listeria. So be careful of what cheese you consume. Hope this helps. ❤

I was prescribed fybogel, I guess to bind it together? I didnt take it in the end so can't tell you if it worked

@Strawberry06 it could be the cheese. I’ve had an upset stomach after eating melted cheese (currently 14 weeks) and have avoided it for a while and been ok.
hope you feel better!
